Core Sciences is part of the Kroger Intelligence & Customer Knowledge (KICK) team.  Core Sciences is accountable for multiple products that support customer knowledge across 84.51° Kroger model, commercial teams, and the total Kroger enterprise. Products include foundational customer segmentations (i.e., loyalty, customer dimensions) and store measurement solutions. 

 

SUMMARY:

The Lead Product Manager is responsible for guiding the strategy, development, and execution of core sciences to meet stakeholder needs and business objectives. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including engineering, data science, Agile delivery, and consulting—to define product vision, roadmap, and priorities. This role requires strong technical leadership and communication skills to make data-driven decisions and align stakeholders. The Lead Product Manager also monitors market trends and user feedback to continuously improve the products and drive long-term growth, including innovation through AI. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and lead the team’s day-to-day execution, coordinating Agile ceremonies (such as standups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives) to ensure aligned, efficient, and highquality delivery.
  • Coordinate closely with onshore and offshore delivery partners to ensure aligned execution, strong collaboration across time zones, and consistent progress toward product goals.
  • Ensure all solutions deliver distinctive value to customers by deeply understanding their needs and desired outcomes.
  • Evaluate and confirm the business viability of solutions across multiple dimensions of the organization.
  • Build and manage strong stakeholder relationships to influence, align, and drive change across key groups, including 84.51° merchandising client leads, the Office of the Customer, and commercial teams.
  • Partner with business domain experts to gain an in-depth understanding of customer and user problems, behaviors, workflows, and the technologies they rely on.
  • Serve as a liaison to downstream product teams, ensuring foundational data and sciences are adopted effectively within core business processes and technical ecosystems.
  • Make thoughtful prioritization decisions grounded in measurable value, balancing usability, feasibility, and viability.
  • Communicate organizational objectives, strategies, and solution needs to the team to enable aligned execution and strong outcomes.
  • Lead Discovery Process sessions with key stakeholders to uncover problems, validate opportunities, and shape product direction.
  • Clearly articulate the value of product work and outcomes to stakeholders and partners.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross‑functional software development teams within an Agile environment.
  • Proven capability to balance business priorities with user and design needs while delivering against defined product roadmaps.
  • Experienced in overseeing end‑to‑end software product development, from concept through release.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with a track record of building and maintaining relationships that influence and drive change across 84.51° and Kroger.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time‑management skills.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity; remains confident, adaptable, and solution‑oriented in the face of uncertainty and unexpected outcomes.
  • Openness to learning and innovating, particularly through the use of AI‑driven approaches.
  • Demonstrates strong collaboration and teamwork, consistently contributing to a positive team environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to understand and lead teams through technical details across product and program contexts.
  • 4–6 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • The stated salary range represents the entire span applicable across all geographic markets from lowest to highest.  Actual salary offers will be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data and cost of labor. In addition to salary, this position is also eligible for variable compensation.
