Lead – Product Design
The Lead – Product Design in Product Consulting (UX Focus) is a senior UX practitioner responsible for leading discovery, shaping experience strategy, and translating user insights into intuitive, scalable design
solutions. You help teams make early decisions, reduce rework, and keep the experience clear and consistent as work moves into build and release. At this level, you guide cross functional teams through decisions early and keep experience quality strong throughout delivery. You balance user needs with delivery constraints by making tradeoffs visible, validating assumptions, and providing buildable design direction.
Responsibilities
Project / Program Leadership
You lead discovery and early alignment so teams understand the user, the workflow, and the decisions needed to move forward.
• Plan and lead discovery activities, including interviews, persona validation, contextual inquiry, and workflow observation.
• Facilitate design workshops, co creation sessions, and alignment conversations to drive early decisions.
• Synthesize research into clear problem statements, priorities, and actionable experience direction.
• Identify experience risks early and guide teams through tradeoffs that balance user needs with delivery constraints.
• Use AI tools when appropriate to support synthesis, ideation, and accessibility checks.
Delivery and Consulting Excellence
You set experience direction, produce design artifacts teams can build from, validate concepts through feedback, and keep quality strong through delivery.
• Define experience direction through design principles, conceptual frameworks, and experience strategy that guide product vision.
• Create navigation models, user flows, and early concepts that simplify complexity.
• Produce UI concepts, prototypes, and interaction patterns with clear behaviors and states.
• Ensure designs meet usability, accessibility, responsiveness, and consistency standards.
• Validate concepts with users and stakeholders, then translate insights into design and requirement updates.
• Bring a UX perspective into planning, refinement, reviews, and quality validation with QA.
• Communicate insights and recommendations with strong storytelling tied to user and business outcomes.
• Identify opportunities for AI-driven user experiences and help measure user value created.
Mentorship and Team Development
You raise design quality by mentoring others, reinforcing standards, and helping teams adopt shared patterns that reduce inconsistency and rework.
• Mentor UX designers on craft, communication, and effective client collaboration.
• Champion design standards, accessibility practices, and consistent interaction patterns across teams.
• Support the adoption and evolution of design systems and shared experience practices.
Growth and Innovation
You strengthen delivery consistency by contributing reusable assets and helping teams use tools, including AI, in practical and responsible ways.
• Contribute playbooks, frameworks, templates, and tools that strengthen Product Design and Product Consulting delivery.
• Share repeatable methods for research, design, and validation to improve consistency across engagements.
• Help teams use AI tools responsibly across synthesis, prototyping, and experience evaluation.
Requirements
This role is a fit for someone who can lead discovery and interaction design end to end, guide early decisions, and translate research into buildable design direction.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 6+ years of experience in UX design, product design, research, or experience strategy.
• Strong experience executing end-to-end UX activities for modern digital solutions.
• Strong research, synthesis, and interaction design skills.
• Excellent communication and design storytelling abilities.
• Strong ability to simplify complex workflows into intuitive user experiences.
• Skilled facilitation of workshops and alignment sessions.
• Highly collaborative and comfortable navigating ambiguity.
• Experience in enterprise environments or consulting preferred.
• Proficiency with tools such as Figma, Miro or Lucid, Dovetail, and user testing platforms.
• Familiarity with Jira or Azure DevOps for cross functional collaboration.
• Understanding of front-end constraints and design system usage.
• Experience contributing to design systems, experience frameworks, or design operations is a plus.
Domain Expertise
Leads in Product Consulting bring deep expertise in one primary discipline while collaborating closely across others. In this role, primary depth is expected in User Experience, with strong cross functional partnership across the others.
User Experience
You lead research and design outputs that simplify complexity, validate assumptions, and maintain usability and accessibility standards across the experience.
• Plan and conduct research, then synthesize insights into personas, journeys, storyboards, and problem statements.
• Define information architecture, navigation, and flows that simplify complex systems.
• Produce UI concepts and prototypes, document behaviors, and validate through usability testing.
• Ensure usability, accessibility, responsiveness, and consistency across patterns and designs.
Project Management
You keep UX work connected to delivery by aligning with team cadence, surfacing dependencies early, and partnering on quality validation.
• Facilitate working sessions that align goals, workflows, and delivery expectations.
• Keep UX work aligned to sprint rhythms, dependencies, and review cycles.
• Partner with QA to ensure experience quality is tested and validated.
Product Management
You ensure UX insights shape what gets built by translating research into clear needs and aligning stakeholders on tradeoffs.
• Ensure insights shape requirements and prioritization through close partnership with Product Owners and BAs.
• Translate research into clear needs, outcomes, and experience considerations that inform decisions.
• Align stakeholders through concepts, flows, and prototypes that make tradeoffs visible.
General Consulting
You help teams move through ambiguity by communicating clearly, facilitating alignment, and turning constraints into clear next steps.
• Present insights in narrative driven ways that align stakeholders and guide decision making.
• Facilitate workshops and design reviews that build cross functional alignment.
• Create clarity on objectives, constraints, risks, and next steps in ambiguous problem spaces.
