Purpose

As a Nondestructive Evaluation Engineer, you will help accelerate the adoption and qualification of additive manufacturing and advanced joining processes through implementation of novel inspection methods. 

The Role

  • Develop inspection methods and procedures for advanced manufacturing methods including additive manufacturing and joining. 
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers to establish inspection plans and implement design for inspectability best practices. 
  • Execute probability of detection studies and qualification plans.  
  • Procure and commission inspection equipment as needed for production. 
  • Interface with customers and government agencies on inspection of additive manufactured hardware. 
  • Perform third party audits of nondestructive testing vendors. 

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline. 
  • 5+ years of NDE experience in aerospace or defense. 
  • Current ASNT level III certification or equivalent in one of the following: radiographic testing (RT), ultrasonic testing (UT), eddy current testing (ET). 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or doctorate in with specialization in nondestructive inspection methods. 
  • Multiple level II or III certifications across radiographic testing (RT), ultrasonic testing (UT), eddy current testing (ET), penetrant (PT), or other advanced techniques. 
  • Knowledge of aerospace and defense requirements including industry standards such as AMS, ASTM, MIL, and AWS specifications. 
  • Experience with inspection of additive manufacturing, castings, welding, composites, or structural bonds. 
  • Experience with automation of NDE processes and data analysis. 
  • Familiarity with aerospace fracture and safety criticality requirements.

  • Mix of office, laboratory, and industrial environment.  

Compensation

At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels Lead Engineer - Principal Engineer as evaluated through our interview process. 

  • Lead NDE Engineer / E06: $155,540 - $213,840
  • Principal NDE Engineer / E07: $179,630 - $247,005
