Gigamon is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Instructional Designer with Technical Writing Expertise to design and develop innovative and impactful learning solutions for our technical teams and customers.
What You’ll Do:
1. Instructional Design & eLearning Development
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of technical eLearning programs, including eLearning modules, instructor-led training (ILT), virtual instructor-led training (vILT), and blended learning solutions for internal employees, partners, and customers.
- Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to identify training needs, define learning objectives, and translate complex technical content into digestible learning experiences.
- Develop engaging multimedia content, including videos, simulations, assessments, and interactive exercises, using eLearning development tools like Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, and Lectora.
- Apply instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles to ensure effective knowledge transfer.
- Maintain and enhance an eLearning content strategy aligned with Gigamon’s overall training goals.
- Ensure accessibility and usability best practices are met across all learning content.
2. Technical Writing & Documentation
- Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including user guides, installation manuals, and online help, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Work closely with engineering, product management, and customer support teams to document new product features, workflows, and best practices.
- Incorporate feedback from internal teams and customers to continually refine and improve documentation.
3. Project Management, Team Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Manage the lifecycle of training and documentation projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality content.
- Lead and mentor a team of instructional designers, eLearning developers, and multimedia specialists.
- Provide leadership and guidance in the creation of technical training content, ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery.
- Ensure effective resource allocation and team collaboration across projects to meet deadlines and deliverables.
- Create detailed project plans, timelines, and milestones, ensuring the successful delivery of eLearning content.
- Work cross-functionally with product teams, support engineers, and marketing teams to align training materials with product releases and customer needs.
- Collect and analyze feedback from learners and stakeholders to continuously improve training programs and documentation.
What You’ve Done:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in instructional design and technical writing, with a focus on technical training for software products or IT solutions.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and technical writing best practices.
- Proficiency in eLearning development tools (Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Lectora).
- Familiarity with networking, cybersecurity, or IT infrastructure products and ability to quickly grasp technical concepts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical jargon into user-friendly content.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Gigamon’s product suite or similar networking/security solutions.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies for project management.
- Exposure to emerging learning technologies such as AI-driven content development, AR/VR, or gamification.
- Experience with graphic design and multimedia software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
- Certification in Instructional Design or Technical Writing.
