About the Role 

As a Lead Backend Developer at AAXIS, you will play a pivotal role in architecting, developing, and optimizing the core systems behind our enterprise-grade digital commerce platforms. You’ll lead the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performance backend services that power intuitive self-service tools, real-time data flows, and seamless customer experiences for businesses across North America and beyond. 

This is a hands-on leadership position suited for someone who brings deep technical expertise in backend and cloud-native technologies, with exposure to front-end frameworks. You’ll guide a cross-functional team through best-in-class development practices, contribute to architectural decisions, and deliver headless commerce solutions that drive operational efficiency and business growth. 

As part of a globally distributed team, you will also be expected to collaborate and manage meetings across multiple time zones, ensuring alignment between stakeholders, engineering teams, and client partners in North America, LATAM, and Asia-Pacific regions. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of full stack applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, and
  NestJS. 

• Integrate and manage authentication and authorization using Keycloak and related standards (OAuth2, OpenID Connect). 

• Architect and optimize applications hosted on Google Cloud Platform, ensuring performance, scalability, and security. 

• Collaborate with product and design teams to define technical requirements and deliver high-quality user-facing features. 

• Mentor junior developers,
  providing technical guidance, code reviews, and support in skill development. 

• Build and maintain scalable microservices and APIs, integrating with Headless Commerce Platforms and third-party services.  

• Create and maintain comprehensive API documentation using Postman and Swagger. 

• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues using AppDynamics and GCP-native logging tools. 

• Manage CI/CD workflows via GitLab Pipelines, ensuring automated testing, builds, and deployments. 

Required Technical Skills 

• 6+ years of professional development experience in full stack engineering 

• Strong programming skills in Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, and NestJS 

• Solid understanding of
  database design and optimization 

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for hosting and infrastructure 

• Solid grasp of authentication & authorization standards (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, etc.) 

• Working knowledge of headless commerce platforms 

• Experience with API design and documentation using Postman and Swagger/OpenAPI 

• Familiarity with
  CI/CD pipelines using GitLab 

• Monitoring and performance tuning using App Dynamics or similar 

Nice to Have 

• Familiarity with Keycloak or similar IAM systems 

• Exposure to Java and Spring Boot (for occasional legacy work) 

• Experience with frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js) 

• Experience in high-availability, distributed systems 

• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
