POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Data Scientist is responsible for defining and implementing an applied data science strategy for Lirio, including methodology for framing questions and attaining insights, and communicating those insights to internal and external stakeholders. The role is also responsible for leading Lirio’s data science team, as well as managing the operational cadence around data science to guide insights and reporting tasks and more effectively use data to achieve business and customer goals.

Data Science Strategy and Implementation (60%)

Develops and implements the applied data science strategy for Lirio
-
Collaborates internally and externally to capture questions about behavior change at scale in healthcare interventions and proposes methods and metrics to answer those questions leveraging Lirio data.

Develops and implements an approach for insights/predictions/analyses that informs internal and external stakeholders about the efficacy of behavior change at scale and opportunities for improvement.

Develops and implements a data science communication strategy for Lirio clients that includes the data-driven framing of Lirio’s efficacy and providing both standardized and custom visualizations that meet a client’s business requirements and data.

Serves as a thought leader in data science for behavior change in healthcare.
Leadership (20%)
-
Serve as the primary point-of-contact to Lirio leadership and clients around data science activities, capabilities, and deliverables.

Serve as a supervisor, mentor, and subject matter expert for the Data Science team.

Provide strategic guidance around the data science opportunities, methodologies, and implementations for Lirio.
Data Science Operations (20%)
-
Leads the Insights and Reporting Strategy Session, a regular client-focused collaboration meeting designed to identify, task, and plan.

Serves as the ‘interpretation layer’ between Data Engineering and Lirio’s domain scientists to enable insights generation and product improvement.

Collaborates with Data and Analytics Engineering
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Bachelor’s degree required
-
PhD preferred
-
5+ years of experience in applied data science.

Experience in a leadership/management role
-
Experience working with domain experts to analyze complex datasets.
-
Knowledge/experience with data science applied in the domains of behavioral science and/or healthcare is highly desired.

Knowledge/experience working with machine learning experts or demonstrated experience in explainable AI is highly desired.

Experience implementing algorithms and visualizations in code (e.g., python, java, javascript) and familiarity with data science libraries.

Experience working with industry data analysis/visualization tools (RStudio, Power BI, Observable)

Knowledge of software engineering and data modeling best practices
-
Experience with big data, distributed systems, data modeling, data literacy, data warehousing, etc.
