Primary Function of Position:

The Laboratory Technician – Microbiology works in the Applied Microbiology Laboratory that supports the operation of the Controlled Environmental Rooms (CERs) at the Mexicali facility by employing the environmental monitoring testing program and reports to the Lab Supervisor MX –.  Additionally the Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing tasks required for the Applied Microbiology Laboratory.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily operations of the Applied Microbiology Laboratory
  • Manage laboratory inventory and supplies.
  • Test and collect samples within the CERs as required per environmental laboratory testing procedures.
  • Read and document test sample results.
  • Assist with preparing test reports for review by Lab Supervisor Mx.
  • Assist with Controlled Environment Room Control Engineer (CERCE) in the implementation of new equipment’s and corrective actions.
  • Other roles and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Plots data into trend charts for Environmental Monitoring testing results.
  • Support to Internal and External Audits.
  • Ability to support extraordinary activities during weekends and/or other shifts.

Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or similar discipline and 0-2 years of applied microbiology laboratory and environmental monitoring experience
  • Knowledge of cGMP, GLP and regulatory compliance standards
  • Ability to multi-task and change priorities based on project criticality
  • Familiar with cleanroom microbiology and medical devices
  • Familiar with common EH&S practices and procedures
  • Comfortable working in clean room environments
  • English Level: Mid/Mid (60-80%)
  • Microsoft Office proficient (e.g. Excel, Power Point, etc.)
