Your Responsibilities
A Laboratory Technician at Centogene México is responsible for performing genetic testing services, including sample preparation, DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing, and data analysis. The technician will ensure accurate, efficient, and timely processing of samples while adhering to strict quality control protocols and maintaining laboratory documentation.
- Sample Preparation: Properly handle, store, and process biological samples (e.g., blood, saliva, tissue) for DNA extraction and downstream analysis.
- DNA Extraction: Perform DNA extraction using various methods, such as column-based purification, magnetic beads, or phenol-chloroform extraction, ensuring high-quality DNA yield.
- Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR): Carry out PCR reactions, including primer design, reaction setup, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- DNA Sequencing: Conduct DNA sequencing using various platforms, such as Sanger sequencing, next-generation sequencing (NGS), or third-generation sequencing (e.g., PacBio, Oxford Nanopore), and understand their respective applications.
- Data Analysis: Analyze raw sequencing data, perform quality control checks, and use bioinformatics tools for variant calling, alignment, and annotation.
- Lab Maintenance: Ensure that laboratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and cleaned. Manage inventory and order laboratory supplies as needed.
- Quality Control: Adhere to quality control protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reproducibility of results.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate records of experiments, results, and observations in laboratory notebooks or electronic databases.
- Safety and Compliance: Follow laboratory safety guidelines and comply with relevant industry regulations, including handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with other team members, communicate progress and challenges, and participate in meetings and discussions to ensure smooth operations and a collaborative work environment. Share knowledge and contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes and services.
Your profile
- Biologist, biotechnologist, QFB, chemist or related career.
- Bachelor's degree completed with degree and ID.
- Previous experience in basic use of laboratory equipment and in molecular biology techniques (nucleic acid extraction, PCR, solution preparation, sequencing, etc.).
- Knowledge of traceability, documentation and good laboratory practices.
- Attention to detail and adherence to procedures.
- Ability to work with standardized routines and high-quality criteria.
- Ability to communicate clearly and open to feedback. High sense of responsibility and teamwork.
- Punctuality and respect for the confidentiality of data.
- Flexible schedule.
- Interest in genomics, reproduction and cancer.
