Laboratory Supervisor (On-Site, Jacksonville, FL)

$28 – $33 per hour

The Laboratory Supervisor is a senior-level role focused on supporting daily operations through effective task coordination, oversight, and team guidance. This position emphasizes assigning and monitoring work, ensuring workflows run smoothly, and serving as a key support partner to laboratory management.Beyond advanced technical contributions, the Laboratory Supervisor provides day-to-day direction to staff, helps reinforce standard processes, and supports team development through coaching and real-time feedback. This role plays a critical part in maintaining productivity, quality, and consistency while helping bridge communication between the team and leadership. This position is on-site in Jacksonville, FL. The schedule is Tuesday - Saturday, 10 AM - 6:30 PM EST.  Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assign and coordinate daily tasks and workload distribution to ensure timely and accurate completion of laboratory operations.

  • Proactively identifies operational risks, staffing gaps, or capacity constraints and drives solutions.

  • Monitor progress and provide real-time support to team members, addressing questions, troubleshooting issues, and removing workflow barriers.

  • Acts as a trusted delegate for laboratory leadership, independently managing day-to-day operational priorities.

  • Assists leadership with training plans, competency assessments, and skills development.

  • Drives continuous improvement projects with measurable outcomes.

  • Serves as a top-level subject matter expert for laboratory workflows, equipment, and SOPs.

  • Ensures consistent adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

  • Communicates clearly, confidently, and proactively, including escalation with recommendations.

  • Leads QA/QC initiatives, audits, inspections, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Demonstrated readiness for people leadership and decision-making authority.

  • Excellent communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to influence outcomes beyond individual tasks.

  • Advanced technical proficiency and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to prioritize strategically in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

  • Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor degree required.

  • Recognized national certification certificate, (i.e. ASPT, ASCP) preferred.

  • Minimum of 6–8 years of relevant laboratory or clinical support experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, projects, or initiatives.

  • Physical Requirements:
  • Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity when handling specimens and operating laboratory instrumentation.

  • Ability to safely handle potentially infectious patient specimens, carcinogenic substances, odorous and other hazardous materials to which they may be exposed.

  • Requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, and walking.

  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
