The L2 Automation Plant Engineer (Sea Vision) is responsible for the ongoing support, maintenance, and optimization of the plant's automation and control systems, with a specific focus on the Sea Vision serialization platform and associated machine vision systems. This role ensures maximum efficiency, compliance with industry regulations (e.g., GMP, FDA), and minimal downtime in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The engineer operates as a subject matter expert for assigned automation areas and may lead small to medium-sized projects or support larger capital initiatives.
Requirements
System Support and Troubleshooting: Provide 24/7 technical support for L2 automation systems, performing root cause analysis and resolving hardware and software issues with minimal guidance.
Sea Vision Expertise: Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Sea Vision serialization and vision inspection systems, including configuration, programming (if required by the specific system setup), and troubleshooting.
Maintenance and Optimization: Develop and manage plans to maintain and improve existing process control systems and vision technologies to enhance performance, reliability, and efficiency.
Project Execution: Lead or support the implementation of new automation solutions, system upgrades, and interfaces, ensuring all work is executed in coordination with production schedules and change management standards.
Validation and Compliance: Assist in the preparation and execution of Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), commissioning, and validation protocols (CSV) to ensure compliance with cGMP and regulatory standards.
Documentation and Training: Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including User Requirements Specifications (URS), Functional Specifications (FS), Detailed Specifications (DS), SOPs, and training materials for end-users and maintenance staff.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, IT, and maintenance personnel, to ensure seamless integration and alignment of automation activities with business goals.
Vendor Management: Manage vendor service contracts and coordinate with suppliers for technical clarifications, support, and new technology evaluation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, or Computer Science) or a related technical field.
Experience:
4-6 years of experience in an automation or manufacturing support role, preferably within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or similarly regulated industry.
Technical Knowledge:
Proficiency with industrial control systems (PLCs, SCADA, HMIs) (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
Direct experience with Sea Vision serialization software and associated machine vision hardware (cameras, lighting, optics).
Strong understanding of network protocols and IT/OT integration in a plant environment.
Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve operational and quality issues efficiently.
Attention to Detail: A high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in serialization, documentation, and quality control.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with team members and management.
Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of safety regulations, GMP, and relevant industry standards (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11).
