Key Account Manager – Retail (US)



The Key Account Manager - Retail is responsible for managing and expanding Scope’s presence across leading national retailers, including Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, Meijer, and Cencora. This role is central to driving the growth of the OPTASE brand in the eyecare category by building strong partnerships with retail buyers, brokers, and internal stakeholders. The position requires a deep understanding of retail operations, category management, and shopper behavior. The Retail Key Account Manager will ensure Scope’s products are positioned successfully on shelf and online, while delivering against brand, SKU, and retailer targets. By leveraging data insights and market trends, the role will identify opportunities to expand distribution, optimize product placement, and strengthen Scope’s competitive position in the eyecare market. This is a remote role with some travel (approx 25%) around the US.



Key Responsibilities


National Retail Account Management

• Manage day‑to‑day relationships with major brick‑and‑mortar retail customers, including Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, Meijer, and Cencora.

• Act as the primary liaison to ensure strong communication and execution with retail partners.

 

Broker Relationship Oversight

• Support and manage Scope’s partnership with the retail broker to align strategies and maximize retail opportunities.

 

Brand Growth & Distribution Expansion

• Drive the growth of the OPTASE brand’s retail footprint by achieving brand, SKU, and retailer targets.

• Identify and secure new retail partnerships to expand Scope’s presence in the eyecare category.

 

Retail Business Reporting & Analysis

• Lead daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting of retail performance.

• Analyze retail data to monitor OPTASE performance and track eyecare market trends, identifying opportunities for growth.

 

Operational Excellence

• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely product delivery, accurate invoicing, and resolution of disputes.

• Maintain compliance with retailer benchmarks and operational standards.

 

Annual Reset & Category Management

• Partner with the National Key Account Manager and Head of Sales to deliver successful annual reset processes for national retailers.

• Contribute to planogram development, promotional calendars, and category reviews to strengthen brand visibility and competitiveness.

 

 Qualifications



  • Business or Science related degree required
  • Professional qualifications and memberships desirable



Specific Knowledge, Skills and Experience


Sales & Account Management Expertise

  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in Sales and/or Key Account Management, preferably within national brick‑and‑mortar retail.
  • Strong selling skills with a customer‑centric approach and proven ability to influence retail buyers and category managers.

 

Retail Ecosystem Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of the retail landscape, including category management, merchandising, supply chain, and promotional execution.
  • Experience managing relationships with large national and regional retailers
  • Familiarity with concept‑to‑shelf processes, including product launches, planogram resets, and promotional calendars.

 

Relationship Building & Stakeholder Management

  • Track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with diverse account stakeholders across retail organizations.
  • Skilled at collaborating with brokers, distributors, and internal cross‑functional teams to drive retail success.

 

Analytical & Strategic Skills

  • Proven ability to analyze retail data, POS reports, and shopper insights to develop effective account plans.
  • Strong track record of monitoring progress, identifying opportunities, and following through to deliver results.

 

Technical Proficiency

  • Excellent computer literacy with advanced knowledge of Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Skilled in CRM systems and proficient in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

 

Personal Effectiveness & Resilience

  • Self‑motivated with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously under pressure while managing a diverse and demanding workload.
  • Energy, resilience, and enthusiasm are key advantages in this role.

 

Flexibility & Travel

  • Flexible attitude toward working hours and business demands.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% across the U.S., ideally based in a metro area with a major hub airport to facilitate efficient travel
