Junior Software Engineer

Join Automation Team and build internal developer tools that are transforming Stepstone standards. You will work on the Service Catalog, built on Spotify's Backstage.io, platform that improves discoverability and standardization for the engineering teams. The catalog is the backbone of our software ecosystem, and your work will directly impact engineering productivity across the company.  

You'll also contribute to Platform Intelligence, a configurable system that processes and reports on software quality and compliance. This role involves Node.js, JavaScript, and cloud technologies (AWS), giving you the opportunity to work on both frontend and backend tasks and develop DevOps skills. To support your growth, we also offer a mentoring program that will help you develop technically and professionally, whether you want to dive deeper into platform engineering or grow as a future leader. 

This is a role with real product ownership – you'll shape features, respond to requests from teams across the business, and drive change in a product that's already making a major impact.

Your responsibilities

• Collaborate with the team and Product Manager to translate business needs into technical solutions  

• Design and implement new features based on internal customers requests  

• Be part of regular refinement sessions with the team to design architecture and technical direction  

• Write and maintain tests  

• Participate in code reviews and pair programming to maintain code quality and share knowledge  

• Improve and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS services  

• Respond to feature requests and collaborate with teams across the organization 

Must have:

• Programming skills (Node.js / JavaScript)  

• Passion for clean code and software craftsmanship  

• Familiarity with Scrum and Agile 

• Good written and spoken English skills  

• Eagerness to learn, share knowledge, and receive feedback 

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, CDK)  

• Experience with CI/CD, observability, containerization 

• Contribution to internal developer portals or platform engineering tools 

• Experience with cloud services, ideally AWS  

• Familiarity with DDD, TDD, and software design patterns
