The Role
We’re looking for a Junior Site Reliability / DevOps Engineer with strong fundamentals in Database Administration and a drive to grow into a full SRE role.
You’ll be able to support our infrastructure, help improve automation, and contribute to maintaining a reliable and scalable platform. This role is ideal for someone comfortable with databases and eager to expand into cloud, Kubernetes, observability, and full SRE practices.
Your Day
- Support and maintain infrastructure across our cloud environments.
- Assist in administering and optimizing databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar).
- Support database migrations, schema changes, and version upgrades under guidance.
- Assist with replication setups (logical/physical) and help maintain basic HA.
- Automate recurring tasks using scripting or Infrastructure as Code.
- Work with senior engineers to improve performance, resiliency, and cost efficiency.
- Contribute to enhancements in monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
- Collaborate with developers on applying SRE principles.
- Participate in maturing our observability stack and early-issue detection processes.
- Continuously learn and expand your SRE/DevOps skill set.
What’s required to get started
- 1-2+ years in Database Administration or Systems/DevOps Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar, including:
- Backups & restores
- Basic Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL).
- Familiarity with AWS or GCP basics (compute, storage, networking, managed services).
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
- Scripting basics in Python, Bash or Node.js.
- Understanding of Docker; an interest in Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with monitoring/alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).
- DB skills that are a plus, especially if demonstrated both in cloud and on-premise environments.
