What You’ll Do
We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Legal Officer with a strong technical aptitude to join our team. In this role, you will provide support across a broad range of general legal work, while serving as the point-person for technical aspects within the legal team. You will act as a bridge between our technical and legal functions to ensure operational requirements from leadership are accurately reflected in our agreements and documentation.
- Assist with the drafting and filing of various corporate documents, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with the CIO and Head of Security to understand technical specifications and translate those requirements into precise legal language, reducing the dependency on the Legal Counsel for initial technical review.
- Draft, review, and negotiate technical agreements, including but not limited to Data Processing Agreements and Security Addenda.
- Analyze legal issues and provide valuable insights to support decision-making processes.
- Maintain organized records of legal documents, contracts, and correspondence and ensure the accessibility and integrity of these legal files.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in AI governance, data privacy, and intellectual property to support legal compliance.
- Assist in developing and implementing processes to streamline internal legal operations and ensure adherence to technical and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal teams, external legal entities, and clients.
- Act as a primary backup for the Legal Counsel. You will manage urgent legal matters in their absence and provide high-level support to ensure departmental workflows remain seamless.
- Stay updated on evolving data privacy laws (such as GDPR or local equivalents) and collaborate with the Data Privacy Officer to ensure all technical addenda remain compliant with current regulations.
- Provide support in others legal tasks that may be assigned
What We Need
- Must possess a legal degree from an accredited institution
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Practitioner, Legal Assistant, Legal Officer, Paralegal, or similar role
- Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and editing contracts
- Demonstrated experience handling technical legal documents (experience with DPAs, security exhibits, and SaaS-related contracts are a major advantage)
- Strong legal research and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain complex legal-tech concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy in legal documentation
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team
- Specialized knowledge and practical experience in data privacy, intellectual property, or commercial tech law is a major advantage
- Must be physically based in the Philippines
