Junior AI Productivity Engineer

TLDR

Work on the integration of AI-driven tools aimed at enhancing engineering productivity while collaborating across teams and managing data flows between systems.

We are looking for an AI Productivity Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate should be an AI enthusiast with special interest in applying AI models, agents and tools.

The candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, be self-driven and proactive,

As an AI Productivity Engineer, you will be a member of our internal AI Adoption Chapter. Your primary focus will be prototyping, and integrating AI-driven tools to enhance our engineering productivity, reduce time-to-market, and increase the quality of our deliverables. You will collaborate across teams to bridge the gap between emerging AI capabilities and our core developer workflows.

Role & Responsibilities

Internal Product Discovery & Innovation

  • Feasibility Assessments: Help evaluate whether a proposed AI solution is technically possible before the company commits resources to a pilot.

  • Technology Scouting: Stay current on AI research, new model releases (Open Source vs. Proprietary), and emerging development patterns (like Agentic workflows) to propose experiments and pilots.

Solution Design & Integration

  • Interface Development: Create the "entry points" for AI—whether that is a CLI tool, a web dashboard, an IDE plugin, or a Slack integration—to ensure tools are where engineers already work.

  • Prompt Architecture: Develop and maintain a library of "System Instructions" and templates that ensure AI outputs are consistent, structured, and follow company coding styles.

  • Data Orchestration: Manage the flow of data between internal systems (GitLab, Jira, Confluence) and AI models, ensuring the right context is provided for every request.

  • Technical Documentation: Help maintain our Engineering Handbook, documenting how to use internal AI proxies, how to write effective prompts for the company's specific codebase, and how to troubleshoot common AI errors.

  • Engineering Support: Help other engineers to understand how to use AI tools and procedures.

Minimum qualifications

Experience

  • Practical Software Background: Experience as a Software Engineer. We value candidates who have moved beyond "tutorial" projects and have built tools used by other people (even if only internally).

  • Prototyping Track Record: Proven ability to take an ambiguous idea and turn it into a functional technical proof-of-concept (PoC) in a short timeframe.

  • Experience with AI: Experience (at least in significant personal projects) integrating LLMs into software workflows and using AI tools to improve productivity in software development activities.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Python and/or Node.js.

  • API & Integration: Good understanding of RESTful APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous processing. You should be comfortable "wiring" different SaaS tools together.

  • AI Orchestration: Familiarity with the "Applied AI" toolkit—this includes prompt engineering patterns (Few-shot, Chain-of-Thought), structured data extraction (JSON mode/Function calling), and basic knowledge of how RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) works.

  • Modern Dev Environment: Familiarity with Git, Docker, and modern CI/CD pipelines. Since you are building for other engineers, you must follow the standards they expect.

Soft Skills

  • Pragmatic Problem Solving: A preference for "simple and working" over "complex and experimental." You know when a simple script is better than a complex AI agent.

  • Adaptability: A high learning rate. The AI field changes weekly; you must be someone who enjoys reading documentation for tools that were released yesterday.

Bonus Points

  • Active participation in the AI community (open-source contributions, hackathons, or technical blogging).

  • Knowledge of Vector Databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, or pgvector).

  • Experience with LLM Observability tools (e.g., LangSmith, Arize Phoenix) to track prompt performance.

  • Knowledge of MCP server development, multi-agent apps, prompt structuring tools, agent programming frameworks or spec-driven development frameworks.
