Jr. Systems Administrator

As a Junior Systems Engineer, you will be a key part of the team that is managing, growing, and monitoring our services and products. You will be a champion of systems, infrastructure automation, proactive management. This is a hands-on technical position. The ideal candidate has prior experience managing Enterprise applications both on-premises and in a public cloud environment. You must be capable of technical deep dives into Windows administration, VMware administration, storage, backup technologies, alerting/monitoring, and enterprise messaging. 

Employment: This is a 6 month contract. Supporting our internal team.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Background in Windows / VMware and have been responsible for supporting a wide range of products/services on multiple architectures. 
  • Assist the team in automating installation, configuration, backup, monitoring, and alerting processes. 
  • Experience managing patch management, vulnerability remediation, package updates, and OS upgrades for servers and workstations, both on and off network. 
  • Understanding of WAN and LAN networks. 
  • Installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software, backups, and system management tools. 
  • Provide hardware, software maintenance support and other technical support. Triage and resolve technical and user issues. 
  • Help document incidents, diagnostics and root cause. 
  • Document procedures to maintain and install supported software and hardware.   
  • Monitor relevant backups of the datacenter servers, file systems, and databases and resolve backup systems issues. 
  • Assist the team in creating fault-tolerant and highly available applications, ensuring efficient and effective use of computing resources. 
  • Collaborate with SRE/DevOps personnel in management, monitoring, and support of cloud migrations. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

 

Skills / Qualifications:   

  • 2 + years of experience in an IT Infrastructure Engineering role.  
  • Written and verbal Spanish fluency is a must. 
  • Experience creating and/or administering cloud infrastructure (AWS / Azure) is a plus. 
  • 1 + years of Terraform is a plus. 
  • Server monitoring solutions (SolarWinds, PRTG, Site24x7, Datadog, etc.). 
  • Experience working in a Network Operation Center or Data Center. 
  • Proven ability to implement secure and highly available infrastructure services. 
  • Experience with supporting a contact center environment a plus. 
  • The role involves participating in an on-call rotation, providing support outside of regular working hours as required.
