We are building the next generation of community journalism — powered by AI, driven by human storytelling, and focused on elevating the voices of 140+ local communities across Canada. Our mission is to give underserved regions timely, relevant, and accessible news using a hybrid model of human reporting and advanced AI tools.
We are seeking a full-time journalist who is equally passionate about local news and AI-enhanced reporting. This role blends traditional journalistic instincts with modern AI workflows. You’ll research, write, and publish stories that matter to Canadian communities — while using cutting-edge AI tools to speed up discovery, analysis, verification, and content production.

Report on hyperlocal topics across assigned Canadian communities (housing, local politics, small business, events, education, culture, etc.)
Use AI tools — including content generation assistants, research copilots, and no-code agentic systems — to improve speed, depth, and workflow efficiency
Conduct interviews with local residents, experts, and elected officials
Monitor community groups, municipal channels, and emerging stories
Produce high-quality articles with accuracy, clarity, and strong editorial judgment
Collaborate with editorial leadership to prioritize coverage across 140 communities
Help refine AI-supported newsroom processes and experiment with new workflows
Uphold ethical journalism practices, fact-checking, and sourcing standards
1–5+ years of journalism, reporting, content writing, or editorial experience
A demonstrated passion for community news and telling stories that matter
Strong research skills and the ability to quickly learn local issues
Regular, hands-on use of AI tools — ideally including:
ChatGPT or similar LLMs for research & outlining
No-code automation tools (Zapier, Make, AirOps, etc.)
Agentic AI tools or pipelines (Flowise, Langflow, crewAI, etc.) — huge plus
Ability to experiment and adapt in a fast-moving, AI-infused newsroom
Excellent written communication and ability to meet quick deadlines
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Help shape one of the first AI-accelerated local news networks in Canada
Work with modern AI tools daily and help build new journalism workflows
