About the Opportunity

Nology is partnering with a leading financial services organisation that champions technical excellence and innovation. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Java Developer to take ownership of complex projects, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor junior team members.

You’ll work in a collaborative environment with a dedicated onsite manager and have access to nology’s resources for continued development. While you’ll be expected to work independently and take ownership of your projects, you’ll still have opportunities to refine your skills.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality applications using Java as the core language.
• Build and optimise backend services and integrations with SQL databases.
• Contribute to projects involving Python for scripting and automation tasks.
• Participate in architectural discussions and influence technical decisions.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across multiple environments.

Tech Stack You’ll Be Using:

• Languages: Java (primary), Python, SQL
• Frameworks & Tools: Spring Boot, Hibernate, REST APIs
• Cloud: AWS
• Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL
• Collaboration: Git, Jira, Confluence

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

• 1–4 years of professional experience in Java development (core and enterprise-level).
• Strong understanding of SQL and relational database design.
• Exposure to Python for scripting or automation tasks.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services.
• Ability to work onsite in Birmingham 5 days a week or relocate.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and ability to work in agile teams.
