The Role

Senior IT Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our organization’s complex IT systems. You will manage the full lifecycle of systems, with a focus on networking, servers, and security hardening, in both Linux and Windows environments ensuring their reliability and scalability. You seek to identify operational risk, especially at the component level, and take ownership of these risks by delivering solutions or by escalating as needed. You fully understand the operational requirements, and dependencies of IT systems before proposing or implementing a solution. You will troubleshoot, research the root cause, and thoroughly resolve issues. You will act as the point of contact for any IT support escalations from Tier 1 support. You continually align your work with PFF’s business objectives and seek to deliver business value.

What You’ll Do

  • Install, configure, and maintain the infrastructure environment, including physical/virtual server, network, and storage components (AWS, OSX. Windows, Linux/Ubuntu, iOS, Android, SQL Server, MongoDB, RDS)
  • Configure and troubleshoot various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations with little to no supervision.
  • Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot issues, and identify current or future risks, including proposing and implementing solutions to enhance overall efficiency through change management.
  • Provide advanced technical support for escalated issues, collaborating with other professions and developers to resolve complex problems.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices utilizing the latest software and utilities to protect systems from potential threats.
  • Manage backup and recovery procedures (Backupify) and implement disaster recovery strategy to support business continuity. Continual testing with little to no supervision of all aspects of DR to identify and fix any gaps while optimizing the recovery process and time to recover.
  • Experience implementing, integrating, and administering enterprise SaaS applications (HubSpot, Shopify, NetSuite, Looker, Jira, Confluence, Asana)
  • Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline system deployment, configuration, and maintenance processes.
  • Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all IT systems, configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Proficiency in configuring and deploying device management tools for a variety of devices and platforms to include the creation and management of policies for enforcement.
  • Small scale project and vendor management to include testing and deployment of new software/devices.

What You Need

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a senior IT role with a focus on infrastructure management and security with a strong proficiency in both Linux and Windows environments.
  • AWS Certified (AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect (SAA-C03)
  • Strong proficiency in both Linux and Windows environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of system administration, virtualization, and cloud technologies
  • Strong proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
  • Familiarity with security principles and best practices.
  • Experience administering and configuring enterprise applications.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including a creative and self-motivated mindset that demonstrates bias for action.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively exchange ideas and gather requirements with stakeholders.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
