About the Job

The IT Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining the technology assets of the organization and providing technical support to employees. Duties include monitoring and maintaining the company workstations, servers, and networking equipment; installing and configuring hardware and software; solving technical issues experienced by employees and stakeholders; evaluating and implementing new technology solutions; participating in the procurement of hardware and software; maintaining security of the company network and computer assets; tracking and documenting our adherence to information security policies; assisting in monitoring the activities of 3rd party IT vendors as directed by the Head of IT; and other technology-related projects as directed by the manager.

 

A day in the life of an IT Support Specialist in our company will bring a variety of challenges and opportunities. The primary goal of the IT team is to keep everyone in the company connected to the technology tools they need to complete their jobs. You’ll use ticketing systems, screen sharing, and desk visits to debug issues with computers, peripherals, connections, and applications. On top of that, you’ll be a key resource to new employees in our growing company as they navigate the technology needed for their job. You’ll procure and then provision their laptops and account access.

When the immediate day-to-day help desk duties are handled, you’ll participate in value-added projects, collaborating with others, to shape how to make the department more efficient and modern through automation, the evaluation and implementation of new software tools, and novel new approaches.

A note on schedule: We are looking for someone to work out of our Tualatin office, starting at 5 AM. The first 90 days will be in-office, with hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote) as an option after 90 days, with manager approval. 

Responsibilities 

  • Provide technical support to team members via ticketing system, chat, and remote sessions, and occasionally via phone. 
  • Address user tickets regarding hardware, software, peripherals, and networking. 
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot servers (Windows), end user workstations (Windows and Mac), networked peripheral devices, network equipment, firmware and software. 
  • Procure, configure, and deploy computer workstations for team members.   
  • Maintain computer and technology inventory assets. 
  • Evaluate new technologies for the business and manage implementation.
  • Assist in monitoring the activities and performance of third-party information technology vendors, as directed by the Head of IT, to ensure they perform their contractual obligations, security requirements, and service level agreements.
  • Track and document adherence to our information security policies as evidence for security audits.
  • Onsite coverage for IT issues faced by NetVendor staff
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned. 

Qualifications  

  • Advanced level of experience with administering Windows, MacOS, cloud IT, and networks.
  • Familiarity with administering and deploying security and governance tools such as Endpoint Protection and Mobile Device Management. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including active listening, troubleshooting, and helping others solve technical problems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a growing team to accomplish short- and long-term project goals
  • Highly organized, efficient, and able to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to use creativity in solving complex problems.

Education/Experience 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an IT Professional or Technical role
