Work Responsibilities

The IT Security Intern at Mercari India will be responsible for the daily operation, configuration, and management of vital IT and Security tools. This work covers both Mercari India's network infrastructure and its endpoints. Key responsibilities are:

• System and Infrastructure Maintenance: Installing, upgrading, and maintaining operating systems, security solutions (e.g., IAM, MDM, EDR, and DLP), and office IT equipment (e.g., firewalls, routers, switches, printers).
• Access and Security Management: Managing user accounts, permissions, access rights, and firewalls, and implementing security protocols specific to Mercari India.
• Performance Monitoring and Improvement: Monitoring system performance, collecting usage statistics, and recommending enhancements for improved efficiency.
• Technical Support: Providing technical assistance by responding to support requests, troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues, and assisting with user onboarding (account setup, device configuration).

• Compliance: Conducting regular reviews of endpoint and corporate network configurations to verify adherence to Mercari's IT and security standards.
• Automation: Developing or enhancing automated scripts for routine IT and Security tasks, including compliance checks, asset inventory reconciliation, and alert management.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed, organized records of all configurations, settings, and procedures for IT and Security operations specific to Mercari India.

Minimum Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, and expected to graduate in 2026.
• Experience or strong academic exposure in at least one of the following areas:
• IT & Network Infrastructure: Knowledge of TCP/IP, networking, operating systems (Linux, Windows, or Mac), server administration, and endpoint management.
• Software Development: Programming proficiency in one or more languages, such as Go, Python, or Javascript.
• Cybersecurity: Familiarity with Firewall/IDS Management, Endpoint Protection, and Identity and Access Management (IAM).
• Basic competence with the Linux operating system, including common commands and scripting.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a capacity for independent troubleshooting.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Passion for learning new technologies and contributing to meaningful projects.
  

Preferred Requirements

• IT & Security Enthusiasm: A keen interest in IT and security engineering is preferable.
• Automation Mindset: Proven experience or a strong desire to automate routine tasks, utilizing scripting or engineering methods.
• Software Development Fundamentals: Basic familiarity with development tools, including Git, dependency management, and build/deployment processes.

Enterprise Architecture Knowledge: An understanding of modern Enterprise IT architectures, specifically Zero-trust and Cloud-Native concepts.
