In People in Need, we believe that people everywhere in the world should have the right to make decisions about their lives and to share the rights expressed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
PIN is one of the key organizations from the Central European region supporting human rights defenders and independent media within our Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (HRD). The HRD’s primary goal is to support independent individuals and groups in repressive and fragile environments who are the target of persecution, harassment, or arrests because of their opinions or activities, and to strengthen civil society in countries that are going through democratic transformation.
Although our Latin American (LATAM) program is located in San Jose, Costa Rica, we all belong to the larger HRD team, united by a shared vision and common goals.
As IT Officer you will be responsible for providing IT support to the Centre of Human Rights Department in Latin America, based in Costa Rica. You will ensure the timely resolution of IT-related issues, maintenance of office equipment and systems set up. You will work in close collaboration with the Headquarters IT department, programme teams, and other operational staff to develop coordinated approaches and joint solutions.

The People in Need organization was established in 1992 by a group of Czech war correspondents who were no longer satisfied with merely relaying information about ongoing conflicts and began sending out aid. It gradually became established as a professional humanitarian organization striving to provide aid in troubled regions and support adherence to human rights around the world.Throughout the 25 years of its existence, People in Need has become one of the biggest non-profit organizations in Central Europe. In addition to humanitarian aid and human rights, it now also targets education and helps people living in social exclusion. We are part of Alliance2015, a strategic network of seven European non-governmental organizations engaged in humanitarian aid and development projects. This collaboration increases effectiveness, both in working in the target countries and in campaigns aimed at influencing the attitudes of politicians and the general public in Europe.
