Role Purpose & Context

We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Team Leader to lead and manage the IT infrastructure team. This role will involve overseeing the planning, implementation, and management of IT infrastructure systems, including servers, networking, storage, virtualization, cloud services, and security. The successful candidate will also be responsible for team leadership, ensuring that infrastructure services meet the organization's needs while maintaining high levels of performance, security, and availability

Key Responsibilities

  1. Team Leadership & Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of IT infrastructure engineers and specialists.
    • Provide direction, coaching, and development to team members, ensuring high performance and growth opportunities.
    • Oversee the allocation of tasks, priorities, and workload within the team, ensuring deadlines and service levels are met.
  2. Infrastructure Strategy & Planning:
    • Develop and execute the IT infrastructure strategy in alignment with the company’s business objectives.
    • Identify opportunities for infrastructure optimization and cost reduction through the evaluation of new technologies.
    • Assist in the design and planning of large-scale infrastructure projects, including upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
  3. Systems & Network Management:
    • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, network devices (routers, switches), storage systems, and virtualization platforms.
    • Ensure the security, availability, and scalability of all IT infrastructure, including cloud services and on-prem solutions.
    • Maintain and monitor network performance, resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  4. Cloud & Virtualization Management:
    • Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure, AWS) and virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Oracle Cloud).
    • Coordinate with other teams to ensure the seamless integration of cloud resources with on-prem infrastructure.
    • Evaluate and implement new cloud-based solutions as appropriate.
  5. Security & Compliance:
    • Ensure IT infrastructure systems comply with industry standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements.
    • Implement infrastructure security measures, including regular patching, updates, and vulnerability management.
    • Lead efforts to ensure disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC) planning is in place and tested regularly.
  6. Project Management & Execution:
    • Lead infrastructure projects, including network upgrades, server migrations, and hardware procurement.
    • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget, coordinating with other departments as necessary.
    • Track and report project progress, risks, and issues to senior management.
  7. Documentation & Reporting:
    • Ensure accurate documentation of infrastructure systems, configurations, and processes is maintained.
    • Provide regular reports on infrastructure performance, security, and project statuses to senior leadership.
    • Develop and update SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and best practices for the infrastructure team.
  8. Incident & Problem Management:
    • Ensure efficient response to and resolution of major infrastructure incidents.
    • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts for critical incidents, ensuring long-term solutions are implemented.
    • Work with other IT teams to resolve escalated infrastructure-related issues and improve service delivery.
  9. Budgeting & Resource Management:
    • Oversee the IT infrastructure budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
    • Approve and manage purchases for hardware, software, and services related to infrastructure.
    • Ensure resource utilization is optimized, ensuring the infrastructure team operates efficiently within the budget.

 

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: Minimum of [5-7] years in IT infrastructure management, with at least [2-3] years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong experience with server management (Windows Server, Linux).
    • Proficiency in networking, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
    • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Oracle Cloud).
    • Expertise in virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
    • Solid understanding of storage systems (SAN/NAS), backups, and disaster recovery.
    • Familiarity with IT security best practices, patching, and vulnerability management.
    • Knowledge of infrastructure automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Leadership Skills:
    • Proven ability to manage and lead cross-functional teams.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to influence decision-making at the executive level.
    • Experience in mentoring and developing team members.
    • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Certified Solutions Architect (for cloud infrastructure management) Or Similar.
    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) (for virtualization management).
    • Familiar with Security and Compliance
    • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).
