What it’s like to work at Topsort

At Topsort, we communicate openly and move fast. We say things as they are, challenge each other early, and embrace feedback with curiosity—it’s how we build better, faster. Every experiment has a purpose, and every outcome helps us make the next decision smarter. There’s no single formula for success here; we find what works, improve it, and scale it.

We’re collaborative internally and competitive externally—never the other way around. The pace is quick, sometimes a 100-mph kind of fast, and that’s what keeps it exciting. We act with intent, lift each other up, and turn bold ideas into real results. No endless meetings here—if it can be done today, it gets done today.

What Is This Role Like?

We're looking for a driven, curious, and sharp-witted IT & Information Security Specialist to join Topsort and help us build the next generation of privacy-friendly advertising infrastructure. You will play a key role in keeping our day-to-day IT operations running smoothly while also supporting and scaling our security, risk, and compliance practices, helping us mantain the highest standards across global frameworks such as SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and GDPR.

This is a highly cross-functional and execution-focused role with significant room to grow. You'll be the go-to person for daily IT needs across the company, while also working closely with Engineering, Product, and Sales on security and compliance topics. It's a great opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to learn fast, take real ownership, and shape both IT and security practices in a high-growth startup.

In this role, you will:

  • IT Operations & User Support: Own day-to-day IT operations across the company. Handle access provisioning and deprovisioning across SaaS platforms (Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, AWS/GCP, and others), manage onboarding and offboarding workflows, and respond to internal IT requests and tickets in a timely and friendly way.
  • Identity & Access Management: Manage user accounts, groups, permissions, and SSO/MFA configurations. Ensure least-privilege access principles are followed and that access reviews are conducted regularly.
  • Device & Endpoint Management: Manage company laptops and endpoints, including provisioning, MDM enrollment, patching, and ensuring devices meet security baselines.
  • Vendor & SaaS Management: Help track the company's SaaS stack, manage licenses, and support procurement and renewal conversations from an IT and security perspective.
  • Security & Compliance Support: Help maintain and evolve Topsort's information security program, contributing to alignment with frameworks such as SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and GDPR. Assist in implementing and maintaining policies, controls, and procedures.
  • Client-Facing Security: Support responses to client and prospect security questionnaires, RFPs, and trust discussions, working alongside senior teammates and commercial teams.
  • Risk Management: Help identify, assess, and track security risks across systems, processes, and third-party vendors. Contribute to maintaining our risk register and follow-up actions.
  • Data Privacy: Support compliance efforts with global data privacy regulations. Partner with Product and Engineering to help embed privacy-by-design principles into our solutions.
  • Audit & Certification Support: Assist in preparing for internal and external audits — gathering evidence, coordinating with stakeholders, and helping ensure successful certification outcomes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Product, Sales, and People teams to keep IT running smoothly and to embed security into our daily workflows.

What We Think You Need to Be Successful

We’re open to candidates who don’t check every box but show strong potential.

Core Requirements & Experience

  • Education & Skills: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, or related field. Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear language for non-technical teammates.
  • Experience: Around 2 years of experience in IT operations, IT support, information security, or a closely related area (internships and meaningful project work count).
  • IT Operations Skills: Hands-on experience administering common SaaS platforms such as Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, Notion, or Atlassian. Comfortable handling access requests, user lifecycle management, and IT support tickets.
  • Identity & Access Management: Familiarity with SSO providers (Okta, Google, JumpCloud, or similar), MFA, and basic access control best practices.
  • Endpoint Management: Exposure to MDM tools (e.g., Kandji, Jamf, Intune) and device security basics on macOS and/or Windows.
  • Security & Compliance Exposure: Some hands-on exposure to frameworks such as SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, or data privacy regulations like GDPR — through prior roles, coursework, certifications, or internal projects.
  • Foundational Security Knowledge: Solid understanding of core security concepts, cloud basics, and application security principles. Familiarity with risk management is a plus.
  • Certifications (nice to have): Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA Security+, ITIL Foundation, ISO 27001 Foundation, or similar are a plus, but not required.
  • Service Mindset: Patient, friendly, and responsive when helping teammates resolve IT issues — you treat internal users as customers.
  • Execution Mindset: Hands-on, proactive, and excited to roll up your sleeves in a fast-paced environment where you'll often be building processes for the first time.
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Self-starter with strong ownership, adaptability, and a desire to thrive in a high-growth startup setting.
  • Technical Fluency: Comfortable working alongside engineering teams and willing to dig into technical architectures to learn how things work.
  • AI Fluency & Continuous Learning: Genuine curiosity for new tools, including AI-driven solutions, and an eagerness to use them to automate IT workflows, improve ticket resolution, and increase efficiency.
  • Able to work onsite in our Boston (MA), Menlo Park (CA), Santiago (CL) or Sao Paulo (BR) office 4 days a week.

What We Value

At Topsort, we seek professionals who embody the following qualities to drive our mission forward:

  • Deep dive into details: Professionals who are not content with superficial answers and dive deeply into the details to uncover root causes and optimal solutions.
  • Team first: A low need for individual recognition, always prioritizing collective results over personal credit.
  • You thrive with ambiguity: Exceptional ability to tackle open-ended problems in unstructured environments, turning chaos into structured innovation.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn, mentor, lead, and follow as the situation demands, fostering growth at all levels.
  • Urgency: A disproportionate sense of urgency in execution, while keeping scalability and the creation of replicable processes in mind to ensure long-term success.
  • Curiosity: Genuinely curious individuals who can quickly learn difficult concepts and apply them effectively.

Do you sound like the right fit? Let's dive right in!
