IT Engineer

AI overview

Serve as the primary IT support in a growing clinic, managing technology operations and leading improvement projects in a high-autonomy environment.

Biograph is seeking an IT Engineer to serve as the operational backbone of our growing IT function. As the sole on-site IT presence, you'll own the full spectrum of technology operations across our clinic—from white-glove end-user support to systems administration, vendor management, and infrastructure projects.

This role is ideal for an experienced support professional who thrives in high-autonomy environments, takes deep ownership of outcomes, and understands the critical importance of privacy and security in healthcare. You'll join a small, nascent IT team with significant latitude to define best practices, introduce new tooling, and shape how IT scales alongside the business.

This role is based in San Mateo, CA, on-site 4+ days/week.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

End-User Support

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT inquiries, delivering high-touch, in-person support at our San Mateo clinic
  • Resolve help desk requests from remote teammates via Slack, email, and phone
  • Escalate complex issues to senior team members or external vendors as appropriate
  • Maintain and expand our IT knowledge base to improve self-service and AI-assisted ticket deflection

Systems Administration

  • Administer and maintain our core tooling stack: Okta, Google Workspace, Kandji (Iru), Meraki, CrowdStrike, Slack, Apple Business Manager, 1Password, Zoom, KnowBe4, Level.io, Veeam, HubSpot, Verkada, and Active Directory
  • Execute employee onboarding/offboarding workflows via Okta; provision and configure laptops
  • Maintain IT asset inventory and lifecycle tracking

Projects & Improvement

  • Lead or contribute to IT projects spanning security, infrastructure, and operational efficiency
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to evaluate, pilot, and implement new technology solutions
  • Automate repetitive workflows using scripts (PowerShell, Bash) or low-code platforms (Make.com, n8n)

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

  • 3–5+ years of hands-on IT support experience
  • Deep proficiency with macOS and Windows endpoints
  • Experience administering identity platforms (Okta, Entra ID, or similar) and MDM solutions (Kandji, Jamf, Intune)
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and experience with Meraki or equivalent
  • Exceptional customer service instincts—you default to empathy and clear communication
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Self-directed: comfortable operating independently with minimal oversight
  • Nice to haves:
    • Exposure to Windows Server, Hyper-V, or Linux administration
    • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements and healthcare IT environments
    • Experience with ticketing/CRM systems (HubSpot, Linear, Zendesk, etc.)
    • Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python, or workflow tools)
    • Previous experience in a startup or high-growth environment
