IT Business Analyst – Gas Trading Operations

As an IT Business Analyst in Gas Trading Operations, you will play a pivotal role in delivering IT solutions that support the transition of trading and supply systems to a new ecosystem. You will collaborate with business and technical teams to design solutions that enhance operational efficiency and align with our strategic goals. Key Responsibilities

  • Translate business requirements into functionality and assess risks, feasibility, and business impacts of solution options.
  • Map and transform Gas Operations processes to the new ecosystem as part of the ETRM transformation from Aligne to Endur.
  • Design high-level IT solutions, ensuring they align with project scope and strategic objectives.
  • Configure Gas Ops systems and drive process improvements.
  • Assess and model processes, data flows, and technology to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery lifecycle, including handover to the support team.
  • Provide training on business processes to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with IT delivery partners to ensure Agile delivery of requirements and solutions.
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, developing trust and credibility.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and mentor to junior Business Analysts.
  • Drive innovation by proposing creative approaches to challenges and opportunities.
  • Experience: 5-15+ years of IT experience, with 5-10+ years as a Business Analyst.
  • Work mode: hybrid - minimum 3 days a week in the office
  • Energy Trading Expertise: In-depth knowledge of UK and European gas markets, including balancing, scheduling, storage, transportation, pricing, and risk management.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in databases, SQL, Power BI, and hands-on experience with ETRM systems (Aligne, Endur).
  • Process Knowledge: Understanding of Transmission and Distribution System Operations, and Physical Gas Flow.
  • Trading Instruments: Familiarity with OTC transactions, exchange-traded futures, options, and their lifecycle.
  • Project Delivery: Proven experience managing end-to-end project lifecycles, with expertise in Agile methodologies.
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a history of building effective relationships.
  • Continuous Learning: A commitment to staying informed about industry trends and energy trading developments.
