Ion Beam R&D System Expert

AI overview

Lead the development of next-generation ion beam systems for advanced applications in semiconductors and nanofabrication while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

Ion Beam R&D System Expert

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Ion Beam R&D System Expert to join our advanced research and development team. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in ion beam technologies, including system-level design, operation, and optimization of ion beam equipment (e.g., FIB, ion implanters, or custom ion sources). You will be responsible for leading the development and refinement of next-generation ion beam systems for applications in semiconductors, nanofabrication, materials modification, and surface analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and integration of ion beam systems and subsystems for R&D and production environments.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and process engineers to implement innovative solutions in ion beam hardware and control systems.
  • Optimize ion source performance, beam stability, resolution, and dose control.
  • Conduct experimental research to evaluate ion-material interactions and beam performance characteristics.
  • Troubleshoot complex ion beam system issues (e.g., vacuum, optics, RF systems, power supplies, beam alignment).
  • Specify and validate system requirements, components, and subsystems.
  • Interface with customers and academic collaborators to develop application-specific solutions.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of designs, experiments, results, and system configurations.
  • Contribute to patent filings, technical papers, and internal knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with ion beam systems (e.g., focused ion beam, ion implantation, or plasma-based ion sources).
  • Solid understanding of charged particle optics, ion source design (liquid metal, plasma, or gas field ion sources), and beam transport systems.
  • Experience with ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems and high-voltage engineering.
  • Familiarity with beam simulation software (e.g., SIMION, COMSOL, TRIM/SRIM).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
