Investment Senior Associate or Principal (Tokyo)

• Evaluate new investments in Japan (and selectively in the US) through financial, technical, market, and operational due diligence. Present as needed to the investment committee

• Prepare deal memos and quarterly reports

• Support fundraising and fund administration tasks such as documentation, contract management, and LP communication/requirements

• Develop market research, competitive analysis, and technology roadmaps

• Build relationships within the startup community and source potential investment opportunities

• Document meetings and updates of companies under review

• Attend industry events/conferences

• Develop investment theses for new opportunities

• Assist in supporting portfolio companies in various activities, including business/sales development, fundraising, market research, etc.

Requirements

• At least 3+ years of experience working in or with technology companies, startups, investment banking, corporate development, management consulting, venture capital, or private equity

• Experience with fundraising and related documentation/requirements

• Pre and post-MBA candidates will be considered

• Strong interpersonal and quantitative skills

• Demonstrated close attention to detail

• Strong writing skills

• Preference to working in a team environment and ability to self-start

• PowerPoint and Excel capabilities

• Ability to multitask and prioritize with strong organizational skills

• “Founder-First” mentality

• Demonstrated interest in startup/tech community/entrepreneurship/venture capital

• Native in Japanese and proficient in English
