About the Creator Accountability Network

The Creator Accountability Network (CAN) empowers Community Members to build trust with Content Creators through ethical training and accreditation, victim-centered reporting of unethical behavior, and the promotion of community healing through active accountability. 


The Opportunity

Investigators at CAN play a vital role in our mission to investigate potential violations of the Creator Agreement with CAN, including reports of abuse, harassment, and/or content violations. This volunteer role is remote and part-time, and is an opportunity to use your skills to help ensure that online communities and creators maintain a safe, ethical environment. You will work closely with a team of investigators to interview creators and reporters as well as collecting all important evidence to ensure a thorough and accurate final report can be completed.  


As a part of our team, you will be contributing to our mission of normalizing compassion, respect, and accountability. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the investigations team to develop a clear plan to investigate all reports.
  • Interview all parties involved in the report including the reporter, content creator and any witnesses 
  • Collect all documentation relevant to an investigation as determined by the team
  • Complete a detailed investigations report that outlines all findings and dispositions
  • Work with the Victims’ Advocacy team and Mediations team as necessary to ensure empathetic, and respectful interviews for all parties involved  
  • Attend bi-weekly team meetings (1 hour) to collaborate on reports and participate in ongoing training as needed


What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Comfortable discussing sensitive topics in a clear and direct manner 
  • Ability to use use critical thinking to objectively analyze information
  • Ability to pull information from social media feeds and creator content as necessary 
  • Exceptional communication and interview skills.
  • A commitment to principles of ethical behaviour and restorative justice. 
  • The ability to participate remotely online for approximately 4-8 hours per week.
