The Interoperability Project Manager is a key role responsible for ensuring successful EMR integrations with provider practices, including data exchange services (e.g. HL7/FHIR, Proprietary EMR APIs, CCDAs) and user-facing applications embedded within the EMR workflow. This role focuses on turning technical EMR integration requirements into smooth, well-coordinated implementations that enable providers to efficiently and confidently adopt our data integration and interoperability products.
This role works closely with Client Success, Clinical Operations, Product, Engineering, and third-party EMR partners to plan and deliver implementations on time with high quality outcomes. This role combines project management, provider-facing communication, and tech savvy coordination, ownership, and bias for action to achieve project goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead customer EMR integration implementations from planning through go-live and beyond, including SMART-on-FHIR applications, data integration services (HL7/FHIR, proprietary APIs), CCDA based data retrieval, and other EMR interoperability technologies
- Serve as primary point of contact and accountability for provider EMR integration success
- Partner with Customer Success team during pre-implementation scoping, planning, and readiness assessments (e.g. security questionnaires, IT resource allocation, governance)
- Partner with Clinical Operations and Customer Success teams to align technical EMR integration implementation with other provider onboarding tasks
- Coordinate client teams and third-party partners (e.g., Epic, athena, Redox)
- Engage in cross-team collaboration, investigation, and issue resolution
- Manage project timelines, milestones, and delivery commitments
- Execute implementation and support tasks such as test data setup, system configuration, product demonstrations and education, issue investigation, and active problem solving
- Facilitate comprehensive testing in coordination with the full implementation team, including functional feature tests, comprehensive UAT, and production migration validation
- Troubleshoot issues and identify solutions, in collaboration with team colleagues
- Partner with Support Engineers on technical execution and support needs, including monitoring integration health and reporting applicable metrics
- Utilize standardized processes, templates, and self-service tools to scale efficiently
- Identify and escalate risks, blockers, and dependencies
- Accountable for communicating reliable and accurate project updates and related statuses to all project stakeholders and internal leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 2+ years implementing complex healthcare software with provider practices
- 2+ years implementing integration technology (e.g. Smart-on-FHIR apps, HL7/FHIR services)
- Clear understanding of provider workflows, risk adjustment, and quality of care
- Excellent project management and cross-functional coordination skills
- Excellent communication and expectation-setting skills with internal and external stakeholders, including technical and non-technical topics
- Proficient with technical integration products and concepts (APIs, data feeds, EMR config)
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with project stakeholders and leadership, including a variety of EMR integration and interoperability related topics and technologies
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent implementations
- High ownership mindset and bias toward hands-on execution
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with specific EMR integration implementation and technical configuration options (e.g. Epic, athena, Medent, eClinicalWorks)
- Degree in health informatics, computer science or engineering, information technology, etc.

The salary for a position is typically determined by multiple factors such as the individual's qualifications, experience, skills, and location. The projected compensation range for the position may vary based on these factors and could range from $63,000 to $75,000 (annualized USD). However, this estimate represents just one aspect of our total compensation package offered.
