Internship Thermal Gasification

AI overview

Interns will work at the forefront of sustainable energy technology, focusing on gasification methods for innovative fuels and materials while collaborating with an engineering team.

For the Thermal Gasification department we are looking for interns! The following internships / graduation assignments are available. Apply using the apply button and select the (graduation) internship you are interested in.

The internships on this page are:

1: CO2 liquefaction in gasification;
2: Open application for internship or graduation.

1 CO2 liquefacation in gasification

MSc student during your last year, looking for a or graduation assignement

For this thesis, your task will be to understand HoSt’s CO2 separation and liquefaction system and adapt it for its use with syngas from gasification. You will have to perform simulations with different gas composition, adapt the technology to make it compliant to HoSt standards. You will receive support from the engineering team to make adjustments to the real technology.

Your tasks:

  • Familiarise with HoSt gasification solution;

  • Study HoSt CO2 capture and liquefaction solutions;

  • Design a CO2 capture+liquefaction solution, compliant with gasification;

  • Produce the required engineering documents, and report;

  • Present the new design within the team.

2 Open application for internship or graduation

HBO or MSc student during your last year, looking for an internship or graduation assignement

Gasification is a key technology for the development of advanced sustainable fuels and materials, such as Methanol, methane, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), plastics or Hydrogen. This technology will become increasingly important during the following years as the demand for sustainable synthetic fuels and materials will increase, in line with the needs for the sustainable energy transition.

Your tasks:

  • Familiarise with HoSt gasification solution;

  • Study the part of the gasification solution requiring improvements or further understanding;

  • Propose a solution to the problem based on simulations or calculations;

  • Produce the required engineering documents, and report;

  • Present the new design within the team.
