Internship for Engineering

An Internship for Eastern & Oriental Express, A Belmond Train offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the specialized field of high-end rail travel. This role is designed for individuals passionate about hospitality, aspiring engineers within the broader railway engineering sector. These internships often focus on core engineering principles applicable to all types of rail, including those shared with luxury train design and operation.

Key responsibilities may include:

• Supporting the inspection and maintenance of train systems (e.g., propulsion, braking, electrical, HVAC).
• Participating in troubleshooting and diagnostics of mechanical and electrical faults.
• Assisting with the implementation of preventative maintenance schedules.
• Assisting in the integration of high-end interior components, such as custom lighting, advanced entertainment systems, and bespoke furniture.
• Collaborating with interior designers and architects to ensure engineering feasibility and aesthetic alignment.
• Considering acoustic and vibration isolation for enhanced passenger comfort.
• Understanding and adhering to railway safety standards and regulations.
• Assisting in the development and review of safety procedures.
• Participating in risk assessments.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in relavent Engineering discipline.
• Relevant Disciplines:
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Civil Engineering (especially for track, infrastructure, and structural components)
• Aerospace Engineering (for lightweight materials, aerodynamics, and advanced systems)
• Mechatronics Engineering
• Materials Science and Engineering
• Industrial Engineering (for process optimization in manufacturing or maintenance)
• Computer Science/Software Engineering (for control systems, diagnostics, and passenger interfaces)
• Strong academic record.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric mindset.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• A genuine interest in luxury travel and the railway industry.
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
