We are looking for a talented, dedicated professional to be a China-based International Student Recruitment Officer for the University of Bath in the UK. The role will be fully dedicated to representing the institution. The role is preferably based in Beijing or Shanghai. The primary focus of the role will be enhancing the University's overall brand and profile and brand in China by delivering a wide range of recruitment and engagement activities aimed at attracting high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate students from China. The successful candidate will act as a representative of the University and contribute to meeting international student recruitment targets aligned with the University's strategic goals. 

 

You will play a key role in implementing Bath’s international recruitment strategy by delivering recruitment and engagement activities targeting prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students, leading to the applications and enrolment of quality students from China. 


In addition, you will play a crucial part in maintaining and developing relationships with Bath’s key stakeholders based in mainland China including but not limited to, visits to universities, the preparation and delivery of presentations and workshops, education exhibitions, and relationships with key schools, colleges, universities and agents. You will also be expected to: 

 

Main duties and responsibilities: 

  • As directed by the International Student Recruitment Manager, devise and deliver recruitment activities in China, including, but not limited to, agent visits, school, college and university visits, the preparation and delivery of presentations and workshops, education exhibitions, and hosting inward visits to the University  
  • Conduct regular visits to recruitment agent offices across China to interview prospective students, engage with, and train agency staff. Advise agent counsellors, prospective students, and offer holders on various topic, including, courses, entry requirements and application process 
  • Maintain accurate records of outbound activity, supporting the team in evaluation of activity, including provision of market insight and analysis  
  • Develop localised materials and activities which support China recruitment objectives, aimed at either a prospective student or influencer audience  
  • Serve as primary point of contact for student inquiries, applicants, partner organisations, agents and other stakeholders of University of Bath in China  
  • Provide logistical and coordination support for the China team and visiting university staff. 
  • Support and development of relationships with targeted schools, colleges and universities as well as with agents, and with staff in HE networks, to enable the ongoing effectiveness of activity  
  • Act as the representative for the university, with autonomy and independence, at events in China 
  • Work closely with faculty teams, central marketing team and ISR colleagues based in the UK to develop and update agent training materials, Chinese language marketing materials and event assets. 
  • Support the International Student Recruitment Manager by providing recruitment information and insight to contribute to reports for colleagues in Faculties, Departments, and other Professional Services teams  
  • Ensure that all activities and projects are appropriately planned and delivered to stay within defined budgets, as set out by the International Student Recruitment Manager  
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across university to support delivery of recruitment plans and strategies to meet targets and objectives  
  • Support Digital Engagement Manager, Central and faculty/School marketing team, ensure all new activities and projects are appropriately promoted and communicated to key audiences. 
  • Contribute to the creation of content for digital platforms, including social media, providing useful and relevant information, advice and guidance  
  • Undertake other duties as requested and reasonably required by the Deputy Head of International Student Recruitment, or the relevant line manager, where they are appropriate to the grade of the post 
  • The position requires significant travel in China and overseas when required
