Intern, Upstream Process Development

The Intern, Upstream Process Development will assist with PD inventory data creation, laboratory and warehouse organization, and routine equipment maintenance. Responsibilities include developing and confirming simple kLa models (2L and intensified systems), assembling 2L bioreactor/NOVA kits, and supporting ViCell and NOVA maintenance activities. This role provides hands-on experience in cell culture operations, process modeling, and PD laboratory support within a biopharmaceutical development environment.
We're thrilled to provide a 10-week paid internship at our facility in Tustin, CA. As an intern, you'll dive deep into our team culture, take on significant projects, and play a vital role in our team's dynamics. This temporary, 40-hour per week office position is designed to offer you a wealth of experience and the chance to connect with professionals in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support PD inventory data creation, tracking, and basic data organization in alignment with laboratory needs.
- Assist with laboratory and warehouse organization to ensure efficient material flow and compliance with lab standards.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and support upkeep of upstream PD laboratory equipment.
- Develop, execute, and confirm simple kLa models for 2L and intensified bioreactor systems under supervision.
- Collaborate with PD team members to support ongoing experiments, process modeling efforts, and general laboratory operations.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
- Basic understanding of mammalian cell culture and bioreactor principles (coursework acceptable).
- Familiarity with analytical tools for cell culture monitoring.
- Ability to work comfortably with laboratory equipment and sterile technique.
- Proficiency in Excel and basic data handling.
- Ability to work with laboratory instrumentation and follow standard experimental protocols.
- Proficiency with Excel or similar tools for data organization and basic analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret experimental results and communicate findings clearly.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Availability to work full-time for the duration of the internship at our Tustin, CA facility.
- Authorization to work in the country where the internship is located.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This role is a temporary position operating Monday through Friday, 5x8 (5 days x 8 hours) schedule.
Internship to begin on Monday, June 15th and end on Friday, August 21st.

Compensation:
The compensation for this role is $20.00 per hour.
