The Intern, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) will play a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our site. Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn and grow in the life science industry.
We're thrilled to provide a 10-week paid internship at our facility in Tustin, CA. As an intern, you'll dive deep into our team culture, take on significant projects, and play a vital role in our team's dynamics. This temporary, 40-hour per week office position is designed to offer you a wealth of experience and the chance to connect with professionals in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop reports and trend analyses for EHS KPIs.
- Update hazard communication by gathering and uploading SDSs for onsite chemicals.
- Participate in workplace hazard assessments and document findings.
- Support sustainability initiatives to reduce waste, greenhouse gas emissions, and water usage.
- Maintain accurate and organized EHS records, logs, and documentation.
- Assist with incident investigations, corrective action tracking, and audit readiness.
- Support EHS training materials and safety communication initiatives.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to advance EHS programs and compliance activities.
- Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned by the EHS team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
- Analytical thinking with the ability to identify risks or trends.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Availability to work full-time for the duration of the internship at our Tustin, CA facility.
- Authorization to work in the country where the internship is located.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a bachelor’s program in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of safety principles, OSHA fundamentals, or environmental compliance (coursework acceptable).
- Passionate about a career in the biotech industry and looking to gain valuable experience through this internship.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This role is a temporary position operating Monday through Friday, 5x8 (5 days x 8 hours) schedule.

- Weekly Check-ins and 1:1s: Conduct both on a weekly basis to ensure clear communication and support for our interns.
- Performance Assessments: Conduct mid and end of program performance assessments to be provided with constructive criticism and feedback to help you grow and succeed.

Compensation:
The compensation for this role is $20.00 per hour.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
