Intern Civil Engineer

The Waste & Recycling Division at LaBella provides complete engineering services to create sustainable, cost-effective solutions tailored to the specific needs of our solid waste clients. The projects are intricate and incorporate civil and environmental engineering skills, including land development (grading and stormwater management); leachate collection, treatment, and management; renewable energy designs; and organic waste management.
   
This intern civil engineer position will work closely under the supervision of a Senior Engineer to develop concepts, strategies, designs, drawings, specifications, and reports. Candidate must be able to work independently, as well as part of multi-discipline teams.
   
Candidate will work on an interesting variety of project types including capturing methane emissions, environmental protection, facility design and construction, and other unique projects.

Duties

  • Projects will include solid-waste related site development projects: developing master plans, design drawings, design of stormwater management and erosion control systems, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Drafting work for scoping/conceptual work/engineering packages.
  • Preparing various types of related reports and studies and secure permitting for projects.
  • Position will require some travel to clients’ facilities to better understand design issues and to monitor construction progress.

Requirements

  • Qualified candidates must be working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with land development, water resources, and geotechnical coursework.
  • Previous Internship experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D is preferred.
