Intellectual Property (IP) Intern

We are seeking an IP intern to work at the exciting intersection of Intellectual property and engineering, where you will gain hands on experience in understanding our innovative concepts and assist in translating them into patentable solutions. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical knowledge in IP law while understanding engineering concepts in a fast-paced innovative environment.

Requirements

What you will do:

Innovation Analysis

• Collaborate with engineering and R&D Teams to review and understand new technology and innovation concepts
• Review and analyze invention disclosures from our engineering teams, translating complex technical ideas into patentable solutions.
• Assist in evaluating the commercial potential and technical merits of innovative ideas

Patent Support

• Assist in refining and optimizing Rapsodo’s internal patent processes, leveraging on engineering background to identify opportunities for streamlining and improving efficiency.
• Participate in preparing and filing patent applications, gaining first-hand exposure to the intricacies of patent law.
• Maintain and update Rapsodo’s IP portfolio databases and files.
• Create IP presentations and reports to clearly communicate findings and insights to technical and non-technical team members.

Research & Documentation

• Conduct competitive and prior art searches to inform strategic patent decisions.
• Conduct patent, prior art, and trademark clearance searches to ensure comprehensive protection of innovations.  
• Maintain organized and accurate records of intellectual property files and related documentation.

Who we are looking for

• Currently pursuing a Masters in IP Law (with a technical focus) or a bachelor’s degree in engineering/ computer science or related field with a strong interest in IP.
• Solid understanding of engineering principles and technologies, with the ability to grasp and communicate complex inventions.
• Familiarity with software and system design, platform architecture will be plus
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex legal and technical information across diverse tems.
• Strong organizational skills with good influencing and stakeholder management skills.
• Highly motivated, a team player and enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
