JOB TITLE: Integrated Voter Engagement Phone/Door Canvasser

POSITION SUMMARY: The Integrated Voter Engagement (IVE) Phone/Door Canvasser is responsible for conducting outreach to Black women, Black queer folks, and Black marginalized individuals who are either unregistered, infrequent, or frequent voters. The IVE Canvasser conducts both phone banking and door-to-door outreach to gather data on social justice issues affecting the community's quality of life. IVE Canvassers contact community members to discuss their experiences surrounding the ability to access and utilize affordable healthcare, reproductive justice, and other quality-of-life issues. This is a strictly non-partisan effort to reach underrepresented and historically disenfranchised voters in the Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland areas and surrounding suburbs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Conduct phone and door-to-door outreach to engage with Black women ages 18–49 in assigned neighborhoods.                                                
Cultivate relationships with active, potential, and infrequent voters.
Provide information on voter registration, polling locations, and general election details.
Engage voters with New Voices initiatives and recruit program participants and volunteers.
Participate in monthly trainings to improve call and door engagement performance.            
Collaborate with team members to coordinate canvassing efforts and achieve outreach goals.
Mobilize support by recruiting volunteers, encouraging voter participation, and promoting advocacy efforts.
Accurately record information utilizing mobile devices (e.g., your own device or tablets provided by NVRJ) after each call or visit with a community member.                            
Attend the weekly canvasser meeting (one hour) 
Have the ability to converse about the mission, programs, and work of New Voices for Reproductive Justice (mainly the IVE program).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Interest and/or experience with phone banking, door-to-door canvassing, public speaking, outreach, and voter engagement.
Excellent communication skills and comfortable speaking with strangers.
Possess the ability to navigate directions throughout door canvassing operations utilizing smartphone apps (e.g., Google Maps, MiniVan, etc.).
Must be able to work evenings and/or weekends.
Comfortable using computers and voter engagement systems, including the Voter Activation Network (VAN) and MiniVAN.
Strong interpersonal skills and outgoing personality.
Ability to work with a diverse continuum of women and people of color, including but not limited to ability, age, education, familial status, gender identity, gender expression, immigrant status, incarceration status, race, sex, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status.
Ability to work some weekends and evenings
The ability to work a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 25 hours per semi-monthly pay period
There will be heightened expectations during GOTV (Primary and General Election)

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in both typical office and community settings, which may include walking or standing for extended periods while engaging voters in a range of weather conditions: 1)Travel to designated neighborhoods or communities to reach targeted households. 2)Frequently required to work at a fast pace. 3)Flexible schedules needed, including evening and weekend work to reach potential voters or community members. 4)May use electronic devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets) for data collection and communication with the organization. 5) Ability to lift 15 pounds with or without assistance. 6) Requires irregular hours, including evening and weekend work.
