headspace Knox and headspace Lilydale support young people aged 12–25 across Melbourne’s Outer East. Our vibrant, multidisciplinary team works alongside partner agencies and private providers to deliver youth‑friendly care, including physical and mental health, AOD counselling, and support with study and work.


Your role, your impact
As an Intake & Brief Intervention Clinician, you will play a critical role in shaping a young person’s first experience of care.

You will:

  • Create a welcoming and inclusive first point of contact for young people, families, and carers
  • Conduct intake assessments, mental state examinations, and risk assessments
  • Deliver brief intervention and single session therapy using evidence‑informed approaches
  • Manage and coordinate care pathways, from assessment through referral and follow‑up
  • Advocate for young people, liaising with families, schools, employers, and external services
  • Present clinical assessments at intake meetings and reviews
  • Develop and facilitate therapeutic groups, responding to service needs
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with headspace and Each requirements
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to shared learning and care

About you
You bring warmth and curiosity to your work, communicate with clarity and compassion across diverse communities, and thrive both independently and as part of a team. You’re organised, adaptable, and committed to inclusion, cultural safety, and person‑centred care.

You bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in counselling, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, or a related field (registration desirable but not mandatory)
  • Experience conducting intake, assessment, and risk assessment with young people
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and youth mental health
  • Experience using evidence‑informed therapeutic approaches
