Position Summary: The Insurance Coordinator provides a range of intensive, client-centered services. The primary role of the Insurance Coordinator is to ensure access to pay sources for health care through public benefits, private insurance, Marketplace Plans, or other sources. This includes education, advocacy and assistance to clients and educating WellPower staff on insurance and benefit plan eligibility, changes, and enrollment procedures. Other key roles include retention in health insurance and redetermination process for people we serve

$27.79 per hour

The posted range represents the full hiring range. Offers will not exceed this range, the majority of candidates are placed near the midpoint based on experience and qualifications. 

Job Duties & Functions: 

  • Verify client eligibility and benefits.
  • Track service authorization requirements and usage and obtain authorization, as necessary.
  • Communicate changes in client information to clinical staff.
  • Update client information in our electronic medical records (Avatar), and documenting in the chart.
  • Assist clinicians in completion of necessary administrative paperwork related to insurance.
  • Meet with clients to explain benefits and financial responsibility. Initially, obtain client insurance information as needed to determine ability to pay. As needed, meet with clients to update benefits information.
  • Assist clinical teams with managing client benefits.
  • Coordinate efforts to identify uninsured, and insurable clients with the intent to connect them to a pay source for care. Gather information on the uninsured through the Peak Pro Portal and the WellPower Electronic Health Record (Avatar).
  • Refer people we serve to external health brokers as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings, team meetings, client staffing meetings (when appropriate), training events; department planning activities, and assisting in special projects.
  • Maintain appropriate client files and timely documentation of services utilizing the electronic health record.
  • Maintain trauma informed environment of wellbeing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements & Qualifications:

 

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. A minimum of 2 years experience navigating healthcare insurance. Obtain a National Provider Identification (NPI) for billing purposes with clear distinction of no treatment planning, formal counseling or therapy.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum two years of healthcare business office, insurance coordination or similar third-party payer claims experience.

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of government benefit programs, private insurance, and Marketplace insurance
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, including assessment skills, and providing effective presentations.
  • Ability to maintain effective organization of work and keep clear records.
  • Willingness to travel within the designated territory.
  • Familiarity with mental health terminology a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and perform job responsibilities with a minimum of supervision and a certain degree of resourcefulness and creativity.
  • Strong computer, customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint, Word, Excel and Teams.
  • Ability to interact with consumers and staff with the use of considerable tact and judgment. Use discretion with sensitive financial and insurance information.
  • Valid Colorado Driver License in good standing. Clean driving record.

 

 


Work Location: This is a remote opportunity 

Shift/Hours: This is a Monday-Friday opportunity observing standard business hours.

Physical Requirements: Requires sitting, standing, bending, and reaching. May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, the telephone and other office and/or clinical equipment.
