Note: SAIT, as a post-secondary institution, serves a diverse student population. Therefore, instructional duties may occasionally be required during early mornings, evenings, and weekends. If selected, specific scheduling arrangements will be discussed between you and the leader. The Role
  • Educate students utilizing existing curriculum resources and utilize a variety of instructional techniques to promote learning and personal development
  • Create teaching and learning plans, course maps, course materials, exams, quizzes, presentations and assessments in support of learning objectives
  • Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners
  • Evaluate student progress and achievement
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
  • Demonstrate personal interest in the success of the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning
  • Participate in promotional activities such as SAIT’s Open House
  • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students
  • Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Journeyperson in a variety of installation and service environments is desired
  • Minimum Alberta Journeyperson Certificate and Red Seal in Plumbing/GasFitting/SteamFitting
  • Prior teaching or training experience in adult education is an asset
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and presentation software
  • Strong communication and human relations skills with the ability to convey the conceptual and practical aspects of subjects to students, respecting their diverse backgrounds, experience and individual learning styles
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in a consultative decision-making process
