The Kathryn Wasserman Davis School of Russian announces openings for temporary Instructor of Russian. The position is available during the summer 2026 session (Dates to be determined) on the Middlebury College campus in Vermont. Our unique program combines a cultural immersion environment with rigorous daily classroom instruction. This is an opportunity to join a community of learners, by actively engaging in teaching, dining, and residing with students while reading, writing, and speaking exclusively in Russian. Our instructors provide four hours of classroom instruction and one formal office hour per day. In addition, participation in pre- and post-session assessment testing and cultural programming is required. Openings could potentially be at all levels of language instruction.

Review of applications will begin in December 2025 and only complete applications will be considered (see instructions below). Interviews on Zoom with selected candidates will be scheduled soon thereafter. This is a temporary position for 2026 summer session only (June 19, 2026 - August 14, 2026)

Requirements

The successful candidate is expected to possess a Ph.D. or MA in a related field, speak Russian at the Advanced High level of higher, and demonstrate significant Russian language teaching experience at various levels. The ability to live, and work in an intensive environment surrounded by students and colleagues is required.
