The Opportunity
We are seeking a full-time, temporary salaried instructor who is a dynamic team-oriented individual to instruct within the Heavy Equipment Technician Programs. The candidate will be a team player demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to learner success. This position will appeal to an individual who seeks the challenges and opportunities to work with learners.
The Role
Prepare and present lessons to learners
Instruct, supervise, and coach learners in a classroom and shop environment
Provide ongoing support, guidance, and feedback to learners by assessing and evaluating learner progress and achievement
Work collaboratively with colleagues to create an engaging and positive work and learning environment
Continuously develop professionally by enhancing both technical knowledge and instructional skills
Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students
Qualifications
You must hold an Alberta Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate or equivalent with interprovincial (Red Seal) status
You must have at least five years’ experience as a journeyperson in either off-road equipment and/or on-road vehicles or equivalent. Preference given to candidates with significant off-road experience
Preference will be given to those who have demonstrated experience and are up to date with current technologies specifically in diesel engines, electrical & electronics, braking systems, and suspension systems and hydraulics
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, OEM proprietary software (Wabco, Cat ET,etc.) and/or other related software (Adobe suite, D2L etc.) will be considered assets
Dual certification will be considered an asset (e.g., Automotive & Heavy Duty)
Prior teaching experience will also be considered an asset
