Project Resources Group (PRG) is searching for a Microwave Installer/Maintenance Technician in the San Diego, California area. Our ideal candidate will possess experience in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of microwave radio communication systems. This role involves working with advanced technology to ensure the seamless transmission of data and communication signals over microwave frequencies. The Microwave Radio Installer plays a crucial role in telecommunications infrastructure, enabling reliable and efficient communication networks.
Key Responsibilities
Installation and Configuration:
Install and configure microwave radio equipment, including antennas, transmitters, receivers, and associated hardware.
Ensure proper alignment and positioning of antennas for optimal signal strength and transmission quality.
Test and troubleshoot installed systems to guarantee functionality.
Site Surveys:
Conduct site surveys to assess the feasibility of microwave radio installations.
Identify potential obstacles and interference that could impact signal quality.
Collaborate with other team members to develop solutions for challenging installation scenarios.
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance on microwave radio equipment to prevent downtime and ensure long-term reliability.
Diagnose and repair hardware or software issues promptly.
Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment status.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during installation and maintenance activities.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
Stay informed about updates and changes in relevant regulations.
Documentation:
Maintain detailed documentation of all installations, configurations, and maintenance activities.
Create as-built drawings and documentation for each project.
Provide comprehensive reports to the project manager and other relevant stakeholders.
Collaboration:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to coordinate installation projects.
Communicate effectively with clients to understand their requirements and address concerns.
Training and Development:
Other related duties and/or responsibilities upon request.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent hands-on experience.
Three (3) years of experience working with FTTH network infrastructure.
Experience with OSP/ISP fiber construction environments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
Proven experience in installing and maintaining microwave radio systems.
Strong technical understanding of microwave frequencies, antennas, and related hardware.
Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Must possess fusion splicing experience.
Exceptional customer service abilities.
Physical and Scheduling Requirements
Ability to work an on-call schedule and overtime when necessary.
Willingness and ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
Must be able to walk extensively, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the workday.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are essential. Must be willing to use a personal vehicle for field work, with mileage reimbursed at the standard federal rate. Appropriate insurance coverage is mandatory.
