The Opportunity

The IT Lead at CAN plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and security of our technological infrastructure. This volunteer role is remote and part-time, offering a unique opportunity to significantly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our organization's digital tools and platforms. You will work closely with other Program Leads and report directly to the Operations Director, ensuring that our IT systems fully support CAN’s mission and objectives.


As a part of our team, you will be contributing to our mission by helping foster compassion, respect, and accountability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain CAN’s IT infrastructure, including software, hardware, and network systems.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of CAN’s digital data, implementing best practices for data protection and cybersecurity.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to CAN staff and volunteers.
  • Lead the implementation of new IT initiatives and projects, ensuring alignment with CAN’s goals and needs.
  • Collaborate with other Program Leads to integrate IT solutions that enhance overall program effectiveness.
  • Work with the People and Culture Lead to develop and update IT policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Train staff and volunteers on the use of IT systems and tools, promoting digital literacy and security awareness.
  • Stay up to date with the latest IT trends and technologies to recommend improvements and innovations.


What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Proven experience in IT management, including overseeing networks, software, and hardware systems. Experience as an admin for Google Workspace is strictly required.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity practices and data protection regulations.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to provide technical support remotely.
  • Experience in project management and implementing IT initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to train non-technical users.
  • A deep sense of compassion and an understanding of the importance of ethical behavior and restorative justice.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to IT maintenance and improvements.
  • The ability to participate remotely online for approximately 4-8 hours per week.
