About the role

As part of the Global Engineering team, the Industrial Designer will support the creation of high-quality, user-focused hardware solutions for global customers in the payments industry. Working collaboratively with the Industrial Design and Engineering teams, this role contributes to projects across the full product lifecycle, from initial concepts through to production. Industrial Design connects product requirements with technical execution, ensuring every design balance user needs, functionality, and manufacturability. The successful candidate will help develop products that reflect brand values, improve usability, and deliver a consistent, premium user experience.

What you'll do 

• Apply creative and practical ID inputs that ensure product proposals meet both Verifone’s standards and end-user needs. 
• Produce concept sketches, renderings, and customer-facing presentations for new product proposals. 
• Support the development of product specifications documents into compelling, manufacturable product designs. 
• Build visual and functional prototypes to support internal evaluations and user research 
• Identify design challenges early and highlight opportunities for innovation and improvement. 
• Balance priorities effectively, distinguishing between core requirements and nice-to-have features. 
• Develop a strong understanding of user and customer mindsets — their tasks, activities, and real-world workarounds. 
• Define clear design specifications and documentation for release to internal and joint development teams. 
• Collaborate across Product and Engineering teams to ensure alignment around user insights and industrial design priorities. 
• Maintain design intent and user experience while contributing to cost-reduction initiatives. 
• Participate in ideation and research activities on users, materials, manufacturing processes, and industry trends to inform future product development 

What qualifications will you need to be successful?

Essential:

• Degree in Product or Industrial Design. Candidates without a design degree but with proven Industrial Design experience and relevant skills will also be considered.
• Strong interest in Industrial Design and design-led problem solving. 
• Creative flair that adds value to engineering and product deliverables. 
• Understanding of manufacturing techniques with a willingness to broaden knowledge. 
• Highly organized and adaptable, able to multitask and switch effectively between projects. 
• Professional communication skills, confident engaging with team members at all levels. 
• Commitment to delivering high-quality work efficiently and accurately. 
• Strong attention to detail in artworks, specifications, and typography. 
• Effective team collaborator with excellent English and Mandarin Chinese communication skills. 
• Skilled in ideation, 3D modelling, and 2D visualization to communicate ideas clearly. 

Desirable 

• 3+ years of experience in Product or Industrial Design. 
• Interest in payment systems, consumer electronics, and emerging technologies. 
• Proven track record in product development and successful project execution.
