We are now looking for an ambitious Business Development Officer to drive our growth across Indonesia.
Job Summary
Your role will be to procure and sell recycled plastics, with a particular focus on
PET (rPET).
Working closely with local and global teams, you will develop relationships with suppliers and buyers, assess opportunities, and negotiate commercial agreements to grow Vanden’s presence in the Indonesian market.
This is a dynamic, results-driven role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys managing multiple opportunities at once.
Success is achieved through a disciplined approach to relationship building, CRM management, and proactive pipeline development.
What You Will Do
Business Development & Commercial Growth
- Map the Indonesian market and develop new suppliers and buyers across manufacturing, recycling and waste sectors
- Identify and qualify opportunities aligned with Vanden’s strategy
- Negotiate purchasing contracts for regular volumes of recycled materials, particularly PET/rPET
- Execute sales of scrap and recycled PET to licensed manufacturers and recyclers
- Actively generate new opportunities through research, cold calling, networking, social media, and industry events
- Maximise margins through effective negotiation
- Conduct site visits to qualify partners and build long-term relationships
- Manage risk and ensure material meets company and customer quality standards
Reporting & CRM Management
- Maintain detailed, up-to-date activity logs in CRM
- Keep accurate customer and supplier records
- Provide market insights and reports to management
- Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and procedures
Who We’re Looking For
Experience & Knowledge
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in business development within raw materials, commodities, or related sectors
- Experience in recycled plastics or prime PET is an advantage (not essential)
- Proven track record of developing new accounts and long-term commercial relationships
Skills & Abilities
- Fluent English (multilingual ability is highly advantageous)
- Strong negotiation and commercial skills
- Ability to build rapport quickly with customers and colleagues
- Highly organised with excellent time management
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with changing priorities
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Experience using CRM systems
- Strong communicator – confident in both written and spoken English
- Proactive, analytical and solution-oriented mindset
