Position Summary:
The principal responsibilities of the Implementation Lead will be to support all projects and initiatives related to optimizing and enhancing patient care and clinical practice at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and in line with UHN’s vision, mission and purpose.  This role serves a critical function for ensuring the successful implementation of clinical strategic priorities as defined by Princess Margaret Cancer Centre clinical and operational leadership.  The role will provide refined expertise in quality improvement, program design, implementation science, and evaluation and will integrate and align Centre-wide priorities as they relate to the delivery of high quality, efficient and integrated care. This role will also play a key function in supporting change management and knowledge translation activities that cross-cut programs and departments, enhance the cancer pathway across UHN, and enable the diffusion of clinical innovation.

Duties: 

  • Collaborates with project leaders to determine timelines and project schedule. 
  • Provides complex project management and leadership for all aspects of various innovation projects. 
  • Leads and supports project implementation working group. 
  • Provides technical and subject matter expertise on approaches and initiatives to optimize clinical care ad clinical practice.
  • Provides consultation and support to teams and departments across the Cancer Program. 
  • Supports the Senior Manager in the development and implementation of a clinical innovation framework to help ensure a comprehensive, collaborative, integrated, and sustainable approach to the spread and scale of clinical innovation across the Cancer Program. 
  • Develops the required processes, tools, and technology to implement key activities and deliver on program plans in consultation with the Senior Manager. 
  • Works closely with all members of clinical practice leadership and front line clinicians to formulate, implement and synthesize stakeholder engagement plans, including needs assessments, key informant interviews, focus groups and other related engagement activities. 
  • Compiles and maintains reports and analytics related to clinical care delivery, funding models, resource utilization and capacity planning 
  • Orientates, supervises, develops, mentors, and coaches practicum students 
  • Keeps abreast of policies and trends in cancer care and healthcare more broadly to advise Cancer Program leadership where relevant.  
  • At minimum over 3 years up to and including 4 years practical and related experience 
  • Healthcare sector experience required and clinical experience is an asset. 
  • Project management experience is an asset. 
  • Experience with applying implementation science, program evaluation and quality improvement tools and theoretical frameworks into practice. 
  • Experience communicating with a variety of stakeholders and implementing complex change initiatives is preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment 
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a major change initiative in a healthcare environment preferred 
  • Change management skills (consulting, negotiating, strategic thinking) 
  • Broad understanding of the healthcare system, related issues and trends, standards of practice, ethics, policies, and legislation 
  • Strong risk management, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to flex between self-directed and team-based work 
  • Excellent knowledge of quality improvement, implementation science, program evaluation and program design theories, frameworks, principles and practices 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills 
  • Excellent team building skills, listening, coaching, group facilitation, and conflict resolution skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal and decision-making skills 
  • Detail oriented with strong skills in data analysis and interpretation 
  • Computer literacy required
