To learn more, visit wearedream.org. The Permanent Substitute Teacher will provide coverage for teachers across all subject areas for their school using lessons provided by the lead teacher. If there is no coverage needed, they will provide support as needed at their assigned school. If a teaching role vacancy exists, the Permanent Substitute Teacher may be asked to cover that vacancy, taking on all duties related to teaching in order to cover the vacancy for the duration of the vacancy.   • Build a warm and inclusive classroom environment where students can succeed;
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with students and families;
  • Actively participate in grade-level meetings, collaborative planning, and professional development;
  • Accept ultimate responsibility for the academic progress of their students, and work to actively overcome setbacks;
  • In the event of a teacher vacancy, take on all duties related to fully covering the vacancy, including but not limited to lesson planning, grading, data analysis, and family communication;
  • Additional duties related to the running of the school as assigned.

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred;
  • A desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families and community;
  • A commitment to working with diverse populations of families and students, including those at risk of educational failure;
  • Flexibility and desire to support students across grade levels, as needed;
  • Experience working in schools and with students from underserved communities, preferred;
  • Must be able to work in-person at the school during the specified hours;
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred;
  • A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, including the desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community.

  • Compensation
  • The salary range for incoming teachers is $60,000 to $65,000. New teacher salaries are determined based on the number of years of experience as a teacher.
  • Additional compensation is added for incoming teachers with Master's degrees and NYS Special Education certifications.
  • Teachers are eligible for annual salary increases based on tenure and performance; salaries for teachers who continue on at DREAM can exceed the incoming teacher band above.
