IC Design Engineer (Mid-Senior) | Telematics

TLDR

Lead the launch of IC design at Teltonika while collaborating with teams to define specifications and develop the first integrated circuit designs for the company's telematics products.

We, Teltonika Telematics, have been creating Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for more than 27 years. Our greatest passion is turning complex IoT technologies into simple and accessible solutions. Our success is built on a professional team of more than 500 ambitious employees. That is why we place strong emphasis on employee well-being, and our efforts to help employees become professionals in their field are our highest priority.

Teltonika’s telematics business unit develops and produces easy-to-use GPS tracking devices for effective fleet management across logistics, agriculture, car sharing, construction, and more. We use the latest technologies to set new standards for the telematics industry.

We are establishing a new department dedicated to Power Electronics Integrated Circuit design. This experienced and highly motivated group of engineers will lead the launch of IC design at Teltonika, defining specifications, developing methodologies, and creating the company’s first integrated circuit designs.

In this role, you will:

A typical workday will consist of the following main activities:

  • Design of analog and power integrated circuits at transistor level (schematic and/or layout).
  • Development of individual IC blocks (e.g., bandgap reference, LDO, gate drivers, current sensing, protection circuits) and integration into high-level IC products.
  • Pre-layout and post-layout simulations, including PVT corners, Monte Carlo, temperature, and reliability analysis.
  • Parasitic extraction review and performance optimization after layout.
  • Preparation of IC documentation for manufacturing (schematics, layout review, design reports, simulation summaries).
  • Close collaboration with electronics engineers on system requirements, specifications, and validation strategies.
  • Collaboration with foundries during MPW runs and mass production preparation.
  • Support for IC packaging selection and preparation for silicon testing.
  • Definition and development of IC-level test plans and evaluation methodologies.
  • Participation in silicon bring-up, electrical characterization, root-cause analysis, and debugging.
  • Development and assessment of new circuit architectures and technical solutions.
  • Mentoring and technical guidance for junior IC Design Engineers.

What we expect of you:

  • Higher or advanced education in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in analog, mixed-signal, or power IC design.
  • Strong understanding of analog and power electronics fundamentals.
  • Ability to design and review IC schematics and/or layouts using Cadence (Virtuoso) or equivalent professional IC design tools.
  • Experience with transistor-level design of analog blocks (e.g., amplifiers, references, comparators, drivers, regulators).
  • Solid understanding of power converter operation (buck, boost, LDOs, gate drivers, protection circuits).
  • Experience with pre-layout and post-layout simulations, parasitic extraction, and corner analysis.
  • Practical experience debugging silicon or complex analog systems.
  • Ability to read and work with foundry PDK documentation and process design rules.
  • Confidence working with professional laboratory equipment during silicon validation.
  • Ability to read, understand, and work with technical documentation in English.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Experience designing high-voltage (60–120V) ICs in BCD or BCD-on-SOI technologies.
  • Experience working with MPW shuttle runs and tape-out procedures.
  • Knowledge of ESD structures, latch-up prevention, and reliability considerations.
  • Experience with layout techniques for matching, high-voltage isolation, and parasitic minimization.
  • Understanding of IC packaging technologies and their electrical/thermal impact.
  • Strong theoretical and practical background in power electronics and control loops.
  • Understanding of the full IC development lifecycle.
  • Proactive mindset – ability to define architecture, identify risks early, and propose technical improvements.
  • Strong motivation to grow within a newly forming IC Design Department and help shape its technical direction.

What we offer:

  • Opportunity to work on strategic, long-term engineering projects, creating the foundation for integrated circuit design at Teltonika.
  • High degree of engineering autonomy and decision-making freedom in a newly forming team.
  • Direct involvement in defining specifications, methodologies, and technical direction for future IC products.
  • Continuous professional development in a team of experienced engineers, with clear opportunities to specialize and grow toward IC design.
  • Collaboration across hardware, manufacturing, and system-level teams in a mature engineering organization.
  • Work based on Agile principles, adapted to hardware and IC development workflows.
  • Care about your emotional and physical well-being by offering flexible work schedules, hybrid work opportunities and health insurance.
  • Company-paid sports activities (basketball, football, volleyball, yoga) and other sports events.
  • Celebrating achievements and having fun together in team building, summer festivals, and other important occasions.
  • Opportunity for solid bonuses when participating in the recommendation program.
  • We delight with birthday and Christmas gifts and rewards on work anniversaries.
  • Office snacks.
